David Beckham denies ‘pimping out’ youngest son Cruz – and claims little lad simply ‘wanted to do something for charity’
The former footballer says Cruz came to them with the idea of a charity single
DAVID Beckham has hit back at claims he is ‘pimping out' his youngest son Cruz – after he released his first single aged 11.
The former footballer has said his son simply ‘wanted to do something for charity’ when he recorded his debut song Every Day Was Christmas and says it is a one off – not the start of a singing career.
The single – which raises money for Global's Make Some Noise charity – was first aired last week but sparked debate about whether Cruz was too young.
Good Morning Britain host Piers Morgan in particular felt rather strongly about it and accused Victoria and David of trying to "exploit their family for commercial gain" and questioned why Cruz was working with Justin Bieber's agent Scooter Braun.
Hitting back on ABC’s Good Morning America, David said: “The amazing thing about this, we only realised Cruz has a cute little voice about nine months ago.

“Scooter has been a family friend for a while, so he said to bring him in, see if he enjoys it.
“For us, we always want in our children, we always hope they're listening to us or pay attention to us as parents, so we do a lot of work for charity for obviously Unicef and my wife does for the UN.
“And Cruz came to us and said ‘How about I do a Christmas song for charity ? And all the proceeds go to charity’.
“There’s nothing more to this than that at the moment.”
“He's 11-years-old, he's still at school, he’s concentrating at school that’s the most important thing but he wanted to give back and he’s done this amazing little Christmas song that’s got a lot of attention.
“And you know we are very proud of it.
“He came to us with the idea. It's kind of cool but he's having fun.”
Scooter has also defended Cruz, tweeting: “He is an 11-year-old who wanted to make a song to help other kids. Once again Piers shows why he is a jackass and why his show was cancelled.
“Some people in this world make a living out of finding the worst in every situation. It means they have a career..not class. Just a career.”
Not one to give up, Piers responded saying: “He's an 11yr-old child being cynically pimped out by his famous parents with your collusion. Be proud Scooter.”
