US pop icon planning collaboration with Adele ahead of UK tour and TWO more albums
SHE has performed with everyone from Harry Styles to Lionel Richie.
And now Shania Twain is eyeing up a superstar collaboration with someone who is a huge fan of hers — Adele.
The Brit singer was left starstruck in November when she discovered Shania had secretly attended one of her Las Vegas shows, admitting she “would have self-combusted had I seen it was you” and adding: “I adore you”.
Now Shania has revealed she is keen for them to team up after they eventually met at the Grammy Awards in February.
In an exclusive interview, the Canadian country star said: “I would love to sing with her.
“I think we would blend beautifully together. Obviously, that would be amazing.
“She’s a great singer and has her own style that is unique.
“She’s a character on stage, too. She’s a fabulous performer.
“She’s so funny. I like her a lot.
“I saw her at an awards show shortly after — it was the Grammy Awards — and I was able to chat with her then.
“She was seated nearby and having a great time.
“We chatted about when I was in her audience, and I really loved the show. It was such a beautiful show.”
Any song the pair put out would surely be a big hit, given they made two of the best-selling female solo albums of all time.
Shania’s 1997 record Come On Over is a huge seller, having shifted 40million copies, while Adele’s 2011 album 21 has shifted 31million units.
Shania has spent much of this year on the road following the release of her latest album Queen Of Me and will kick off her UK tour this Thursday in Glasgow.
And she has teased there is far more music on the way.
She explained: “I’ve got so much music that I wrote over the lockdown periods because I was, out of sheer boredom, needing an outlet for my creativity.
“I wrote a ton of stuff. I’ve got enough to make at least two albums right now.
“That’s been building up and I plan on making a new record as soon as I can.”
She kept fans waiting six years for her latest album, so hopefully this means it won’t be so long next time.
SHEERAN PEDALS NEW MUSIC TECH
ED SHEERAN became one of the most successful musicians of all time thanks to his incredible voice and trusty loop pedal.
And now he is helping people follow in his footsteps by bringing out his own range of the tech, which creates instant recordings and playback of tunes in real time.
The Shape Of You star has filed a trademark for the brand, called Sheeran Pedals, which could be on the market as early as next year.
A source said: “Ed is always looking at ways to give back and inspire other musicians.
“Bringing out his own range of loop pedals, which is a niche of his, is a clever idea and they’d sell like hot cakes.”
Last month, I revealed Ed was preparing to drop a surprise album – and he confirmed this a couple of weeks ago.
Autumn Variations will be released on September 19 with 14 songs, each one inspired by one of his friends.
Ed has taken inspiration from the English classical composer Edward Elgar for the record, saying: “I have an album that I’ve made called Autumn Variations
“This is a record that I was sort of making at the same time as Subtract.
“Elgar has this thing called the Enigma Variations, where he did 14 songs about 14 friends.
“So I wanted to make 14 songs about 14 friends and base it on autumn.
“I thought it’d be an interesting subject to write about.”
Fans can watch Ed performing the album live for the first time on November 18 and 19, at London’s Royal Albert Hall – with tickets going on sale from Friday.
EMILY’S POUT ON THE TOWN
EMILY RATAJKOWSKI looks just peachy as she flashes her botty in a revealing bronze dress.
The silk gown’s daring split, which almost reached the model’s waist, also gave onlookers an eyeful of her long legs.
Emily paired the revealing look with chunky jewellery, a black bag and heels as she strutted towards the Sony Studios in Manhattan, New York.
Cheeky!
NAS LOOKS A LIL BIT GRUMPY
I’M not surprised Lil Nas X looked moody at the premiere of his documentary Long Live Montero at the Toronto Film Festival.
The Old Town Road singer scowled as he posed for photographs in a long blazer and leather trousers after he was forced to delay his arrival because of an apparent security threat.
Lil Nas was allowed inside the screening once organisers confirmed there was nothing credible about the threat.
After catching him on stage at Glastonbury, I was blown away – so I am looking forward to seeing what his film has to offer.
DJ TOM’S BAR BUST
TOM ZANETTI may be a dab hand at creating club tunes, but he doesn’t seem to be quite as good at running the venues – as his bar in Leeds has gone bust.
The DJ and former Celebs Go Dating star launched Dollhouse in his home town four years ago, but it has now closed with debts of more than half a million quid.
Documents at Companies House for Doll Enterprises Ltd show it has gone into voluntary liquidation with £611,515 of debt, including £143,336 owed in taxes.
Tom, who had Top 40 hits in 2016 with You Want Me and 2021 with Didn’t Know, previously dated Katie Price, who isn’t exactly known for her successful business ventures either.
Dollhouse closed its doors a fortnight ago, but hinted it could return.
A message still up on its Facebook page said: “The book isn’t closed, but this chapter is done.”
EMELI: MY EXES INSPO
EMELI SANDE has admitted her exes have inspired her new album, but she won’t be badmouthing them.
The singer said she has no hard feelings towards anyone she has been with in the past – because she just wants to remember the good times.
Emeli, who was previously married to marine biologist Adam Gouraguine, said: “When relationships end there is so much emotion in the air but going back to that core aspect – the reason why you got together in the first place – is really important.
“I think if you hold on to grudges and that energy, it can slow you down in life.”
Emeli is now engaged to a woman, after falling for Bulgarian pianist Yoana Karemova, but insisted the move doesn’t detract from her previous relationships.
Emeli, whose record How Were We To Know will be out on November 17, said: “I’m very lucky to have a great connection now.”
Bizbit
PERRIE EDWARDS was in full song on Saturday as she performed at a pal’s wedding in London.
She sang Celine Dion’s That’s The Way It Is with Myleene Klass tinkling along on the piano.
The star-studded affair also saw a Girls Aloud reunion, with Cheryl Tweedy, Kimberley Walsh, Nadine Coyle and Nicola Roberts all turning up.
STILL A SKATER GIRL
AVRIL LAVIGNE proved pop-punk is not dead as she headed out to a New York bash.
The Noughties singer, famed for her punk-inspired look, headed to the Dion Lee Spring 2023 after-party over the weekend.
Her edgy outfit included a leather jacket, studded sunglasses and black lipstick, as well as, of course, her signature smoky eye make-up.
Avril posed outside the venue before joining Barbie actor Hari Nef and rapper Ice Spice inside.
The Sk8er Boy star is currently on her eighth album, which she confirmed last year.
She teased she had been working with collaborators including Blink-182 drummer Travis Barker and Brit singer Yungblud.
