Rocker's girl supports her dad at his massive show in the capital

ROD Stewart kept it in the family at his massive O2 gig last night, with daughter Ruby opening the show for him.

Ruby, 29, who is part of folk rock act The Sisterhood, joined her partner Alyssa Bonagura for a great start to the concert.

The duo played for 45 minutes, getting the crowd warmed up nicely ahead of Rod's performance.

Ruby was elated to perform at the huge London arena, where the capacity is 20,000.

In amongst the many fans of her father were members of their family, including Rod's wife Penny Lancaster and one of his other three daughters, Renee.

After the gig Ruby and Alyssa posted an amusing Boomerang video of themselves celebrating with a little jig, accompanied by the caption "We just played the O2!!!!! Omg"

They also posted an image of themselves on stage taken by Renee.

The Sisterhood have been supporting Rod on his UK tour, and Ruby has also appeared with her father in Vegas as part of his residency at The Colloseum at Caeser's Palace in Las Vegas.

She is one of four daughters, the offspring from Rod's relationship with Kelly Emberg.

Rod himself performed for two hours, though he disappeared off stage several times for costume changes and accordingly to a review in The Times, his voice wasn't quite legible enough.

According to the reviewer, "Certainly Stewart could have started stronger. If he doesn’t warm up his voice, he should, because his croak through the first few songs was barely intelligible, not least when he was drowned out by dual drummers and a squally sax during This Old Heart of Mine. 'It’s gonna be good tonight — eventually,' he said, but you could almost hear him pacing himself in his head."

The 71-year-old postponed his UK tour dates earlier this year due to ill health, resuming them this week.

He picked up a knighthood in the Queen's honours back in October. Wife Penny Lancaster and his family now fondly refer to him as 'Sir Rod Father'.

The tour continues this week in Glasgow.
