Louisa Johnson defends her sexy style and admits it’s hard to be a young girl in the limelight
The X Factor star vows she won't be changing her revealing outfits any time soon
LOUISA Johnson has hit back at those who slam her sexy style and admits it can be hard being a young girl in the limelight.
The 18-year-old who shot to fame after winning The X Factor last year, told The Sun Online in an exclusive interview: "To be honest I understand that people want their children to look up to people... but than I don't understand it!
Discussing comments about both her own and fellow X Factor alumni Little Mix's revealing stage outfits, she went on: "If I had a child I would want them to feel comfortable in whatever they wanted to wear, they are their own person.
"I'm not going to tell them what to wear or how to dress.
"I'm not going to tell them what their make up needs to look like, because they need to experiment to know what's right and what's wrong."
Speaking at Wednesday's revamp of the M&M's store in Leicester Square, where Louisa officially opened the world's largest chocolate wall with a intimate performance for fans, the singer added: "And I don’t think there is a right or wrong - as long as they’re happy I don’t think it should matter."
Louisa was mentored by fellow singer Rita Ora during her time on the ITV show and reveals she still tries to live by the advice given to her by the Hot Right Now hitmaker.
Louisa, who still keeps in touch with a "very busy" Rita, explained: "She was the one that said to me - and it's what I pass on to everyone else now – is to stick up for yourself and just be you and stay true to yourself, especially in this industry, it’s so important."
Now, after a "crazy year" in which she's released two singles and "worked with amazing people" like Clean Bandit on the chart-topper Tears, the teenager is focusing on releasing her currently untitled debut album early next year.
She told us: "The album will be out which I’m really excited about – but I don’t want to put a date on it because I'm still kinda working on it.
"I feel quite protective over it!"
Louisa went on: "All the songs represent me in a different way.
"There are different sides to my music that people haven’t seen and emotions. Half of it is sensitive and half of it is 'I don’t care!', it’s just a bit of everything."
