Louisa Johnson hits back at X Factor fans who think 5 After Midnight drew ‘short straw’ performing with her in the final
The former winner had no qualms about returning to perform on the show
LOUISA Johnson has hit back at X Factor fans who reckoned 5 After Midnight drew the "short straw" by performing with her in the live final.
The singer, who triumphed on the show last year, returned to The X Factor to take to the stage with the boyband in a rendition of Clean Bandit's Tears and described the experience as "amazing".
Producers of the singing competition were slammed for bringing Louisa, 18, to duet with the lads in their bid to win.
One fan wrote: "How can X factor duets go from Beyoncé and Christina Aguilera in the past to Louisa Johnson :/ ??"
And: "Looks like 5 After Midnight have drawn the short straw with Louisa Johnson. #xfactorfinal"
But a cheery Louisa was unfazed by the comments and told The Sun Online: "It was Clean Bandit as well – it wasn’t just me!
"I feature on the song and that's the song they wanted to do."
She added: "I think it shows how far you can go in a year – like ‘ha, ha’ to everyone else, this is what you can achieve and how far you can go - so why not go back?"
Describing the evening which saw 5 After Midnight's competitors duet with Nicole Scherzinger and Adam Lambert, who sang with finalists Matt Terry and Saara Aalto respectively, Louisa added: "It was amazing to perform with them. I was really nervous.
"I think it was just the whole atmosphere of the final – it was quite nerve-wracking but I had a lot of fun with those guys.
"I was disappointed they didn’t get further – they were amazing. But you know, you can only have one winner."
Despite this, the teenager is excited to see what Matt has to offer.
"I think he’s amazing," said Louisa.
"He never had a bad week and I think he’s got the voice, he looks great... I'm really excited to hear what he’ll actually do.
"But the single for him is amazing – it’s Ed Sheeran!"
And after what the 2015 X Factor winner describes as a "whirlwind" year, has she got any advice for the newbie?
Louisa commented: "My main advice would be to just stay true to yourself and if you really believe in something and want to do something, or feel something’s not right, you have to say it."
Chatting to The Sun Online at the opening of a giant M&Ms wall in London's Leicester Square, the star confirmed she's set to bring out her debut album early next year.
She teased her fans and said: "All the songs represent me in a different way - there's different sides to my music that people haven't seen."
