SHOCK COLLAPSE

Christopher Maloney ‘beside himself with worry’ as his beloved nan is rushed to hospital after brain tumour diagnosis

Nana Pat is currently undergoing tests in hospital in Liverpool

CHRISTOPHER Maloney's beloved nan has been hospitalised for the second time this year - and the singer is beside himself with worry.

Pat O'Brien, who was the 38-year-old's number one supporter when he appeared on the 2012 series of The X Factor, was rushed to hospital after collapsing at home.

Her sudden hospitalisation comes months after she was diagnosed with a brain tumour following a terrifying brain aneurysm back in February.

According to a source close to the singer, who starred on Celebrity Big Brother back in January, her falling unwell has blindsided the family, and they're beside themselves with worry.

One told The Sun online: "It's come as a complete shock to Chris and his family.

"Nana Pat was rushed in again after collapsing at her home in Liverpool.

"She is undergoing tests still at Aintree hospital and it is indeed a very worrying time for the family."

Earlier this week, Chris shared a picture of Pat celebrating her 80th birthday with the nurses at Aintree Hospital.

Smiling widely, the brave pensioner posed up with a large chocolate cake complete with candles, and her bed was decorated with balloons.

He tweeted: "Happy birthday to my lovely Nan, such a shame it has to be spent on a ward @AintreeHospital xx."

Pat has always championed Chris, and told The Mirror: “You’ve got to know Christopher to love him.

“Once people get to know Christopher, they’ll love him.

“If he can do anything for you, he’ll do it. If I want anything he’s there - he’ll cook anything, take you anywhere.

"He hasn’t got a bad bone in his body.”

It's an especially tough situation for Chris, who is having to juggle spending quality time with Pat with a gruelling schedule.

The singer - who came third on the ITV talent show - is currently performing twenty-one consecutive shows in the run up to New Year's Eve, but ever the professional he's not missed a beat.

In August it was revealed that Nana Pat had been diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumour, and that her only hope was a course of radiotherapy.

The diagnosis came months after she suffered a brain aneurysm - Chris found her at home covered in blood.

After her tumour diagnosis she praised Chris, and in a statement she said: “I feel very luck to have the support of my family at this time, especially our Christopher. I’m a fighter.”

Pat is almost as famous as Chris after he dedicated most of his X Factor performances to her - so there's bound to be plenty of good wishes coming her way.
