Well, it's centred around a character named Prairie Johnson, played by the show's creator Brit Marling.
Prairie returns to the community where she grew up after a seven-year absence, calling herself The OA and with the ability to see again after years of blindness.
She refuses to share what happened while she was away with anyone but a select few.
Described as a "powerful, mind-bending tale about identity, human connection and the borders between life and death", it's a spellbinding story.
Near-death experiences and trauma form part of the show's overall narrative, inspired by Marling's random encounter with a woman who recounted her own near-death experience to the actress 10 years ago.
It's a fascinating, engrossing show with a great deal of care put into its themes, which will challenge and enlighten viewers in equal amounts.

The “mind-bending” story returns with The OA Part II, which follows OA as she navigates a new dimension, one in which she had a completely different life as a Russian heiress, and one in which she once again finds herself as Hap’s captive.
Part II introduces Karim Washington, a private detective tasked with finding a missing teen, Michelle Vu.
His path crosses with OA, as they try to solve the mystery of Michelle’s whereabouts and a house on Nob Hill connected to the disappearance of several teenagers.
Meanwhile, back in the first dimension, BBA, Angie and the boys find themselves on a journey to understand the truth behind OA’s story and the incredible realities she described.
Who stars in The OA?
Brit Marling takes on the lead role again of Prairie Johnson.
Harry Potter star Jason Isaacs also returns as the experimental scientist with a dark secret.
Netflix has also confirmed that Riz Ahmed is returning for a guest starring role, along with Patrick Gibson and Emory Cohen.
The big new addition to the cast is Kingsley Ben-Adir, best known to UK audiences for his role as Dr Marcus Summer in Vera.
What does The OA stand for?
The title of the show, The OA, refers to the name adopted by protagonist Prairie, who returns to her adopted home after being missing for seven years.
Episode four of season one helps explain to viewers what exactly this name means.
The episode focuses on a flashback of Prairie's dreams where a woman - who took her eyes away - called her "OA" or possibly "away".
Later in the series during episode seven, Prairie refers to herself as "the Original Angel" - another reference to the show's title The OA.
