Coronation Streets fans to go without their mid-week Weatherfield fix after Boxing Day
But there'll be plenty of action on the cobbles over Christmas
CORONATION Street fans might have soap withdrawals over Christmas as they'll have to go without their usual mid-week Weatherfield instalment due to the festive schedule.
But viewers need not be worried about being cheated out of precious time with their beloved soap as there will be plenty of action happening on the cobbles over the Christmas weekend.
There will be a half an hour episode on Christmas Eve at 7.30pm and a bumper hour-long instalment on Christmas Day at 8pm.
On Boxing Day, there will be the usual double bill at 7.30pm and 8.30pm but there will be no more episodes until Friday, December 30.
Viewers will still be getting the same amount of time their beloved Wetherfield residents, just on a different schedule throughout the festive period.
Meanwhile, the first official trailer for Christmas on the cobbles was released on Friday and it's not going to be a happy one or returning Toyah Battersby.
In the clip, Toyah's return is laid bare as she thunders up the cobbles in her car, jumps out and tells sister Leanne that she's 'messed it all up'.
But Leanne's troubles are only beginning as also in the trailer her ex and her current boyfriend get into a serious punch-up on the cobbles.
Peter Barlow - who has a new love interest in the soap - is seen punching Nick Tilsley to the floor in front of the entire street before getting up and charging at his love rival.
Sadly Nick's Christmas is set to get even worse as his niece Bethany Platt is shown stumbling into the alleyway drunk before collapsing.
Fortunately Toyah's long-awaited return awaited is happening and she's sticking around.
The Weatherfield favourite - who is played by actress Georgia Taylor - hasn't been seen in Weatherfield since 2003 but fans have long wanted her to make a return and now their wish has been granted.
In a spoiler picture revealed by The Sun, Toyah returns to be reunited with her step-sister Leanne Battersby (Jane Danson) for a nice brew.
Toyah, played by Georgia Taylor, left the Street in 2003 after starting an affair with her university tutor only for him to cheat on her with Maria Connor.
Pregnant Leanne is delighted to see her sister, who arrives in tears with her nursing a broken heart and hiding a big secret but she won’t be the only problem on Leanne’s overfilled plate.

Speaking ahead of her return, Georgia said: "I am thrilled to be rejoining my old friends on the cobbles.
