Spandau Ballet in talks to turn their career into West End show full of classic Eighties hits

The stage show will use a catalogue of classics reaching back as far as 1979 from Gold to True and more

SPANDAU BALLET have racked up sold-out tours, No1 albums and countless hit singles since they formed in 1979.

And now the Eighties favourites could be about to tick another big box by landing their own West End show.

TONY HADLEY, STEVE NORMAN, JOHN KEEBLE and brothers MARTIN and GARY KEMP have held talks about turning the story of the band into a stage show, to be soundtracked by their classics.

A source said: “Spandau Ballet have the fanbase and the hits to make a musical, it would be huge.

"They want the show to happen and have met West End supremos. They feel their story would be perfect for the stage.

“Spandau were an integral part of the New Romantic era and they’ve even talked about DURAN DURAN factoring in to the show because of their fierce rivalry in the Eighties.”

Next month Martin appears as a judge on BBC talent show Let It Shine, searching for five men to take part in a TAKE THAT-themed musical.

That should give him an idea or two.
