Keira Knightley ‘to make surprise return to Pirates of the Caribbean’ a decade after leaving role as Elizabeth Swann
The Oscar nominated actress's character, Elizabeth Swann, is heading back to the Caribbean after a ten year absence
KEIRA Knightley is set to return to Pirates of the Caribbean ten years after her last appearance in the franchise - despite previously claiming she would not go back.
The stunning 31-year-old English rose has starred in three of the Pirates film series as sassy Elizabeth Swann.
Viewers watched her grow increasingly ballsy across The Curse of the Black Pearl, Dead Man’s Chest, and At World’s End as she became a confident pirate fighter and love interest of Orlando Bloom’s Will Turner.
Last appearing in the third film in 2007, Keira had denied returning to the series in 2014, saying: “No, I don’t think so. It was an amazing point in my life, but it was a good five year chunk. I can’t really imagine going back to it.”

However, movie insiders have blabbed that Keira has donned her corset once more to appear in the next instalment – Dead Men Tell No Tales – reprising her role as Elisabeth ten years after her last appearance.
“The top-secret one-day shoot took place in November and the set was in lock-down,” a source told The Mirror, explaining that the two-time Academy Award nominee had filmed a scene with Johnny Depp (who plays Captain Jack Sparrow) and Landy Bloom.
“Keira was really excited to reprise the character that made her famous and get into her wigs and costume again,” the source continued.
“Her role will only make a small return during the end credits to delivering killer lines hinting at a possible bigger part in sixth movie,” the source teased.
Keira did not star in the fourth instalment of the Pirates series, On Stranger Tides, with Penelope Cruz stepping up for leading lady duties.
Orlando Bloom was also absent for the fourth instalment, but returns predominantly in Dead Men Tell No Lies – which is due for release on 26 May 2017.
Meanwhile, away from film roles, Keira recently endured a spine tingling moment in real life as she found herself being forced to flee her marital home (she’s married to Klaxon’s rocker James Righton) after a stalker persistently sending her cat postcards and made meowing noises through her letter box.
In an emotional impact statement read to the court, Keira said: “This man has caused a lot of distress and panic. I’m scared every time I go outside.
“When I return home I have to look behind me, I don’t know who might be in the shadows.”
The Pride and Prejudice star added: “The thought of my daughter being at risk is my worst nightmare.”
The stalker, Mark Revill, was found guilty of stalking in December and was given an eight week suspended prison sentence and a restraining order.
