East 17 star axed from karaoke competition on local radio after singing his OWN number one smash hit song
EAST 17 star Terry Coldwell was surprised to enter a karaoke contest - only to be disqualified because he was "too authentic'.
The 90's boy band member couldn't resist picking up the microphone when he stumbled upon a street contest in Hemel Hempstead on Friday.
BBC Three Counties Radio presenter Justin Dealey asked him to "sing a banger for a banger" and the Terry, 49, obliged.
Playing the segment on his radio show on Saturday, James said: "This is what happened when we played our game.
"So I'm stood by this hotdog stall, if they sing us a banger, and it's good enough, I buy them a banger."
Terry belted out East 17's 1994 hit Stay Another Day but before he could finish, Justin kicked him out of the competition.

"Sorry mate, too authentic, you're disqualified," Justin interrupted.
Terry replied: "Can I just have a slice of bacon or something?"
Since the disbanding of the original group, Terry now performs as East 17 alongside new members Robbie Craig and Joe Livermore.
The newly formed group released a new single “I Just Wanna” in May last year and Terry recently collaborated with Marks & Spencer, appearing in a cameo for the store's song, “This is not just another Christmas song”.
Last year he appeared on Never Mind The Buzzcocks' 2022 Christmas Special and The Lateish Show with Mo Gilligan as part of thar series' festive Special.
Terry hasn’t just been performing, he's been busy expanding his family and welcomed his sixth child into the world last year with wife Faye Satterley.
