Coronation Street SPOILER – New Year, new complications for the two-timing businessman
Also this week: Shona gets in the middle, Phelan saves Anna and Mary says goodbye to Weatherfield
The new year isn’t going to be any less complicated for Aidan if this week is anything to go by.
First he heads to the prison to visit Maria, who tells him how hurt she was that he didn’t attend her sentencing. Then his father, Johnny, announces he intends to retire.
This opens a whole can of worms when Adam finds out that Peter once owned half of Underworld, but gave it back for nothing. Adam talks Peter into joining forces with him to sue the Connors to seize control of the firm.
When Aidan gets wind of the plan, he shoves Adam against a wall and warns him that he’ll do everything in his power to stop the Barlows getting their greasy mitts on the factory.
Meanwhile, troublemaker Jenny overhears Aidan talking to his dad about his other woman and she confronts Johnny, demanding to know who Aidan is cheating with.
And after Johnny confirms an affair but refuses to name the lady, Jenny gets the wrong idea when she spots Aidan and Alya chatting together.
When she then overhears the pair organising a business meeting at his flat, she shares her suspicions with Eva. Devastated, Eva bursts into the apartment and gives her man hell – but is mortified to realise a platonic business meeting was taking place.
As Aidan and Eva go to the factory to put Jenny in her place, however, they are interrupted by the police, who want to question Aidan over his aggressive behaviour towards Adam.
And just when it looks like things couldn’t get any worse, Johnny makes another shocking announcement…
Shona gets in the middle
It was one thing when Todd had to share Billy with the Church, but now his fella has a new project that’s taking all his attention: wild child Shona.
When she turns up on the doorstep of No.11 with nowhere to go, Billy offers her a bed for the night, but Todd isn’t exactly happy about it after he makes a shocking discovery – David’s stolen wallet.
Telling Billy that Shona is a thief, Todd’s aghast when his boyfriend supports her and tries to find her a place to stay.
When Billy later finds out that Shona has returned the wallet – and the cash – to David, he tracks her down and even spends the night sleeping at a bus shelter with her when all the hostels are full.
Needless to say, Todd’s put out yet again, but that’s nothing compared to when he turns up at Roy’s Rolls because he’s interested in applying for the job vacancy there – only to find Billy has put Shona forward for it already!
Phelan Saves Anna
The last face you want to see when you come round from a nasty fall is Phelan’s, but that’s exactly what Anna is greeted with when she regains consciousness after her New Year’s Eve tumble.
Phelan spots a frightened Jack wandering the cobbles on his own and when the little lad explains what’s happened to his father’s girlfriend, the crooked builder breaks down the door at No.13 and helps Anna back on her feet.
While she isn’t exactly thrilled to see her sworn enemy, Kevin is even more shocked to arrive home to find the crook in his house.
Still, Phelan’s Good Samaritan act is all for show.
He’s soon up to his old tricks again in the Rovers when he steals Kevin’s phone and interferes with an order for a new pick-up truck, getting it delivered to the wrong address.
The baddie then ropes in Andy and tells him to accept delivery of the vehicle and steal it and also makes threats towards Steph.
Can Andy ever escape his clutches?
