James Blunt reveals he blew thousands of pounds trying to grow drug-laced fruit
SINGER James Blunt has revealed that he tried to grow drug-laced fruit.
The former Army captain, 49, who had a No 1 in 2005 with You’re Beautiful, also understands why people want to smack him in the face.
He revealed in a new book that he used his trumpet, from his days in the Household Cavalry, to blow out cocaine to fellow party-goers.
Blunt also told how he spent thousands of pounds on liquid acid to water his fig trees at his pad in Ibiza in an attempt to “grow hallucinogenic fruit”.
In Loosely Based On A Made-Up Story, he recalled how he once called his dad — who was head of the Army Air Corps — to rescue him and his troops in Kosovo.
Two Apache choppers arrived in five minutes.

The soldiers “weren’t bothered about me overexerting my privilege, they were saying, ‘Yup, f***ing call him!’,” he said.
On why some did not like him, he said: “When I look back I want to punch me in the face. I came out of boarding school and the Army and I was very naive and I got a bit of a kicking.
"Did I deserve it? Yes, probably. Has it kept my feet on the ground? Definitely.”
