Charlotte Dawson announces she will wed rugby player boyfriend Matthew Sarsfield… and dead dad Les will be at the altar
The Ex On The Beach star made the hilarious revelation on This Morning
CHARLOTTE Dawson has declared she wants to marry her rugby star boyfriend... and a cardboard cut-out of her tragic dad will be waiting for her at the altar.
In an emotional appearance on today's This Morning, the 23-year-old Ex On The Beach star joined her mum Tracy on the famous sofa to talk about the late comedian ahead of a new two-part documentary about his life.
Speaking of her dad, who died when she was only eight months old, Charlotte said: "It's so amazing, I'm so proud to be his daughter.
"I'm so lucky I've got all this footage, I've got his statue, I've got amazing home videos."
Tracy added that the 61-year-old was a "fantastic dad", and he vowed to spend as much time with his baby daughter as possible after she was born, meaning she appeared on the ITV show back in 1992 and hung out at pantomimes.
Viewers were shown a snippet of Les and Tracy's wedding - where baby Charlotte was a guest - which left both of the women teary-eyed.
It got the topic of conversations firmly on to weddings, and allowed the leggy make-up artist to reveal her own plans for her big day.
Les being dead for twenty-three years certainly doesn't mean that his fatherly duties have stopped - and his devoted family rarely leave home without a cardboard cut-out of the funnyman under one arm mean he will be star attraction at her nuptials.
When quizzed about her love life, laughing Charlotte pointed at the natty statue and laughed: "I think I've met the one now!
"He'll [Les] be down the aisle, my dad, waiting for me."
She then told hosts Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford about her new man, explaining: "He's called Matthew, he's a rugby player for Swinton Lions."
But cheeky Eamonn couldn't resist quizzing Charlotte about her raucous appearance on Ex On The Beach, where viewers saw her get up to all sorts of sleazy antics.
She admitted that her mum had given her a list of things to NOT do... which she promptly did.
Tracy explained: "People have said, 'what would Les think?'
"It's not my type of television, I'd rather watch Ken Dodd."
Charlotte then added that she was eager to take part in the programme to show people she's just a normal Northern girl who likes "Prosecco and chips".
She added: "People have warmed to me from the programme., but I think my dad would find it a bit cringe.
"But saying that, my dad would be king of the jungle by now!"
