Who is Daniel Roche? Outnumbered and Just William star who enjoys going to festivals
Find out what the award-winning child star is up to now
DANIEL Roche shot to fame as the mischievous, yet adorable, Ben in BBC comedy Outnumbered.
But he has now hit the headlines for chanting "ketamine" at a festival - here is what we know about the former child star...
Where is Daniel Roche from?
Daniel was born in London in October 1999 to former newspaper picture editor Judy and rugby reporter Tony Roche and has two older brothers.
He grew up in north London and attended a CoE secondary school as well as the Susi Earnshaw Theatre School in Barnet.
At the age of 11 was granted a scholarship to the independent University College School in Camden which he still attends as well as playing semi-professional rugby for Wasps RFC Academy.
How did Daniel Roche get into acting?
When Daniel was just four years old, a neighbour asked his mother Judy if he would accompany her daughter to the Susi Earnshaw Theatre School on a Saturday morning.
Three weeks later he had an agent and two weeks after that he was cast in his first TV commercial for Huggies Dry Night Nappies.
At the age of five he played a boy with special needs who throws himself off a roof trying to emulate a superhero in an episode of Casualty.
He then starred in an advert for Kingsmill bread in which he encountered fish in unlikely places.
What is Daniel Roche best known for?
Daniel is famous for playing Ben Brockman on the BBC One sitcom Outnumbered.
Parts of the show are improvised and while the adult actors learn the scripts, the child stars are given last-minute instructions by the writers on the day of filming.
In 2009, he was nominated for the British Comedy Award for Best Male Comedy Newcomer, but lost out to Charlie Brooker.
He starred as the hyperactive, pathological liar Ben from 2007 to 2014 and is returning for a Christmas special this year.
What else has Daniel Roche been in?
Daniel played the title role in the Christmas 2010 BBC adaptation of Just William, for which he was nominated for a Children’s Bafta for Best Performer.
That same year he played a young Stephen Fry in the Sky 1 comedy Little Crackers.
He also starred in the BBC children’s comedy drama Dani’s House in 2012.
Why has Daniel Roche's antics at festivals hit the headlines?
Daniel loves a good summer festival, and his antics are often caught on camera.
He has hit the headlines for being filmed loudly chanting "ketamine" while partying at the BoomTown Fair.
The actor was seen wearing a colourful floral garland and smiling as he joined in with revellers shouting out the name of the Class B drug.
Fans of the actor noticed him in the crowd, called out to him and shook his hand, continuing filming as he counted down from three to lead the chant.
There's no indication Daniel had taken any drugs at the festival.
Meanwhile, in 2016, while attending the Reading Festival in August, he was filmed on his knees drinking from a beer bong.
Appearing bleary-eyed, he was seen stumbling around the place after the drink.
But unlike his co-star Ramona Marquez, who days before had been trolled over her attendance at the music festival, he was praised by fans on social media.
