Harrison Ford sends message of love and support to Star Wars co-star Carrie Fisher

The actor said he was very upset to hear about his former lover's heart attack

HARRISON Ford has said he was left “shocked and saddened” when he heard about Carrie Fisher’s heart attack.

The actor, who starred as Han Solo alongside the actress’s Princess Leia in four Star Wars movies, issued a statement of support and best wishes upon hearing the news.

He said: “I’m shocked and saddened to hear the news about my dear friend. Our thoughts are with Carrie, her family, and friends.”

Ford, 74, and Fisher, 60, had a three-month-long affair while filming their first Star Wars film A New Hope in 1977.

She was just 19 and he was 33 and married when they enjoyed their tryst, which she admitted to in her new book The Princess Diarist.

On Friday night, Carrie suffered a massive heart attack on board a flight from London to Los Angeles.

She fell ill 15 minutes before the plane was due to land and was treated by a member of the emergency services who luckily on board the flight and administered CPR.

Once on the ground she was rushed to hospital and is now on a ventilator at the UCLA Medical Center in Los Angeles.

Her daughter Billie Lourd is also at the star’s bedside, along with Carrie’s beloved French Bulldog Gary.

Ford was just one of many of her Star Wars co-stars to send messages of support.

Mark Hamill, who played Luke Skywalker took to his Twitter page not long after the tragic news broke and wrote: “As if 2016 couldn’t get any worse… sending all our love to @carrieffisher.”

He was joined by actor Peter Mayhew, who is best known for portraying Wookie Chewbacca in the movies, and who added: “On this Christmas Eve join me in sending prayers & light to our Princess. Carrie, The world is rooting for you my friend. We love you!”

Billie Dee Williams, who played the smooth-talking Lando Calrissian in Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi, wrote: “Sending my love. Please recover @carrieffisher.”

Anthony Daniels, who played C3PO added: “At last I know what I want for Christmas. The galaxy’s beloved Princess, fully functional once more. And soon.”

Warwick Davis, who starred as the Ewok Wicket in Return of the Jedi and had a very sweet scene with Fisher, took to his Twitter page and posted a selfie of him and Carrie with her dog.

And he wrote: “Sending love and well wishes to ‘our Princess’. The Force is strong with you.”

And Dave Prowse, who is best known for portraying Darth Vadar, posted a black-and-white photo of him with Carrie, Mark, Peter, the late Kenny Baker and Harrison Ford in London in 1980 promoting The Empire Strikes Back.

And he wrote: “Sending love to @carrieffisher.”

He also spoke exclusively to the Sun Online yesterday and said he was devastated by the news.
