EVERY famous man and his dog seems to fancy becoming a major player in football clubs now.
The latest is Robbie Williams, who is keen to follow in the footsteps of Wrexham co-owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, and American Football legend Tom Brady, who sunk cash into Birmingham City.
The Angels singer has revealed he wants to invest in his home town club Port Vale, in Burslem, Stoke-on-Trent after seeing the impact Ryan and Rob had when they bought Wrexham in November 2020.
Robbie said in the US: “The Ryan Reynolds thing is intoxicating. It’s a beautiful story. It’s fascinating. It’s a fairytale. I’d like to be involved in something like that. My big love in football is Port Vale, a very small team in the UK, so somewhere down the line I’ll have something to do with it.”
Footie-mad Robbie built a pitch at his LA home and created his own team named after League One outfit The Valiants, Los Angeles Vale FC, made up of celeb pals and expats.
Young Rob, who also helped mastermind charity fundraiser Soccer Aid, was a defender like Vale’s Tom Sang, but said his future lay elsewhere.
Robbie, inset, said: “I was a left back. I was never good enough to be a pro but there was a longing to be something.
“But since middle age I know I’ve got the best job in the world. I’ve done Milan’s San Siro stadium where they’re all looking at me and every song I sing, I’m scoring a goal.”

Romeo’s a chip off the old Beck
THERE was no mistaking where Romeo Beckham and his model girlfriend Mia Regan got their fashion inspiration from on her big birthday night out.
They looked the spit of his parents David and Victoria in matching black leather in 1999, right, as they headed out in London’s posh Mayfair at the weekend to celebrate her 21st.
His parents have worn a lot of memorable looks over the years but this is one of their most famous, so I can’t imagine it was coincidental that Romeo and Mia decided to have a nod to it.
He is emulating his dad by covering his body in tattoos, too, including one dedicated to his girlfriend.
She shared a snap on Instagram of the ink on his forearm of the word “Mooch”, a reference to her nickname Mimi Moocher.
