WHAT COULD POSSIBLY GO WRONG?

The Grand Tour takes a road trip across Namibia in beach buggies with hilarious consequences

Jeremy Clarkson and his team set off on the epic journey for a New Year’s special

THEY’VE done some wacky and outrageous road trips in their time and The Grand Tour gang have taken on yet another, this time involving some customised beach buggies and an African desert.

Jeremy Clarkson, James May and Richard Hammond have abandoned the show’s travelling tent and set off across the landscape of Namibia for a New Year’s special.

And as usual, whenever these three get an idea in their heads, it usually ends up with hilarious – sometimes even calamitous – consequences.

The show’s boss, Andy Wilman, declared that the humble beach buggy is a terrible invention.

But the three hosts are keen to prove him wrong and set off across the African country in their own customised buggy.

And from the looks of the trailer that was released today, their epic adventure isn’t without disaster, arguments, sand dunes, dirt roads and a few giraffes.

And poor old Jeremy seems to be the one that all anger and frustration is directed at.

As the men make their way over a very high sand dune, Hammond tells him: “Jeremy? If we don’t make it, please know that I hate you.”

And in one clip, the men are standing on a very cloudy beach as Jeremy says, “Let’s not get bogged down with whose fault it was,” to which Hammond replies, “It was yours.”

Later, May is heard saying: “Apart from Jeremy Clarkson, it’s all going really well.”

And in another scene, after Jeremy declares to the men that he’s “had a great idea”, Hammond is seen in his buggy which appears to be dangling high above the stunning Namibia landscape.

To see what happens to Clarkson, Hammond and May as they take on south west Africa, tune in to Amazon Prime for the two-part special which airs on December 30 and 31.
