And now the story of Bobby and Tina Moore’s humble beginnings to their super stardom has been told for the first time as a drama series, which concludes with the third episode tonight.
Michelle Keegan takes on the role of the world’s first WAG, but who else is in the cast and when is it on ITV? Here’s all you need to know.
What is Tina & Bobby about?
The three part ITV drama tells the story of Sixties golden couple Bobby Moore and Tina Dean.
It starts with their humble beginnings as two teenagers in love to their married life and then Bobby’s rise to fame as West Ham captain.
But after England won the World Cup in 1966, the team Bobby captained, he became a national hero and their lives changed dramatically as they were thrust into the spotlight.
But their celebrity lifestyle came at a cost and the drama documents their many highs and lows.
The three-episode series will track a decade each - the 60s, 70s and 80s - as the pair adjust to fame and juggle it with family life.
In real life, the pair divorced in 1984.
Is there a trailer?
A first look at the show follows various stages of the plot including Tina’s marriage to footballer Bobby Moore in 1962, the birth of their two children and issues within their marriage.
In one clip, Tina can be seen looking on proudly at her husband as he scores the winning goal in a football match.
As can be expected, things aren't always plain-sailing, and the pair soon hit trouble after getting married.
The first episode showed the couple's wedding and setting up their new home together and his rise to captain of England.
Their world was rocked however when he was diagnosed with cancer and Tina supported her husband's fight back to fitness for the 1966 world cup.
Who is in the cast?
Michelle Keegan (Tina Moore nee Dean)
Michelle is best-known for her role as Tina McIntyre in Coronation Street which she played from 2008 to 2014.
She then played Tracy the the first series of Ordinary Lies before receiving critical acclaim for her portrayal of Corporal Georgie Lane in ITV drama Our Girl.
Michelle is married to Heart FM DJ and former TOWIE star Mark Wright.
Lorne MacFayden (Bobby Moore)
The Scottish actor, from the Isle of Skye, will be known to ITV viewers as Phil Wilkinson in Grantchester.
He also starred in ITV drama The Level as Darryl Quinn.
Patsy Kensit (Betty Dean, Tina’s mother)
Patsy became a household face at the tender age of four when she starred in a TV ad for Birds Eye peas.
She then went on to star in the 1986 film Absolute Beginners alongside David Bowie and fronted the Eighties pop band Eighth Wonder.
From 2004 to 2006 she starred as Sadie King in Emmerdale and then Faye Byrne in Holby City from 2007 to 2010.
When is it on ITV and is there a trailer?
The three-part series, based in the 60s, started on Friday January 13 at 9pm.
It is being aired each week and will follow each decade as their marriage progresses.
The finale will be aired on January 27.
