Steps tease fans with promise of more to come after New Year’s Eve reunion gig
The band confirmed their reunion appearing together on stage at London’s G-A-Y nightclub, and hint at further shows
Reformed pop favourites Steps have vowed to make 2017 a huge success after launching their comeback on New Year’s Eve – despite singer Lisa Scott-Lee almost missing out with a broken arm.
The band confirmed Bizarre’s exclusive reunion news by appearing together on stage at G-A-Y at London's Heaven nightclub, and teased plans for further comeback projects after returning to the limelight.
Fans are now excited for confirmation that a tour will follow alongside new music, as the five piece look to reignite their careers to mark 20 years since their launch.
Taking to the stage just after 1.30am, singer Ian “H” Watkins told fans at the club: “It’s 2017, Steps are back. We have some surprises up or sleeves and it's a good job we've got very big sleeves.
“So you'll just have to watch our website and we'll tell you all in due course. This year Steps are 20 years are old, which makes me 25, and Claire 52.”
But the appearance was almost marred by disaster after co-star Lisa Scott-Lee broke her arm shortly before the gig – forcing her to perform with it strapped up.
Bandmate Lee Latchford-Evans told fans: "You may or may not have noticed, I just have to point this out because you might think someone is making a lot of mistakes tonight, she's actually really, really not.
“Lisa actually broke her arm, believe it or not, so what trooper to be here on stage tonight for you guys.”
And Lisa added: “You guys are so fantastic. Just to say it's been 20 years of our life and you guys have been there every Step of the way, you see what we did there.
