Coronation Street’s Kym Marsh opens up about difficulty she had filming heartbreaking miscarriage scenes which mirrored her own experience

The actress, who plays Michelle Connor in the soap, said that revisiting the scenes was a 'challenge' but the best tonic was to see her children at home and remember how lucky she was

CORONATION Street's Kym Marsh has spoken about the difficulty she had filming the heartbreaking miscarriage scenes on the soap which mirrored her own experience.

The 40-year-old, who plays landlady Michelle Connor, lost her child Archie after he was born prematurely at 21 weeks on February 11 2009.

Kym relived the death of her son in scenes set to air in the coming weeks, which will see Michelle and husband Steve McDonald distraught after their baby son Ruari is born prematurely and dies.

Speaking to , she revealed she had to go to some "really dark places" when filming

the heartbreaking scenes but said that family, friends and colleagues had been "incredible.

The actress said: "Losing a child is something that never leaves you, so revisiting those feelings as
Michelle was a challenge."

But Kym revealed that there had been a counsellor on set at all times, adding: "But the best tonic was to go home and see David, Emilie and Polly, which reminded me how lucky I am to have my children."

She also revealed that she would be buying a house with boyfriend of two years Matt Baker, which Kym said was a "big commitment".

Last week Kym thanked fans for the support she's received since she revealed that she would be reliving the death of her baby son.

She wrote: “Just want to say thank you so much to everyone for all your messages of support for our upcoming @itvcorrie storyline.
