Good Morning Britain’s Susanna Reid reveals she’s ditched the carbs in New Year diet
The breakfast show presenter maintained it was only carbs in refined form she had cut out of her diet
SUSANNA Reid has banished unhealthy carbs from her New Year diet - yet her super-healthy breakfast choice left some fans confused.
The Good Morning Britain host, who has deliberately adopted a healthy lifestyle, also admitted she was steering clear of dairy milk as she chatted about her eating habits on today's show.
In a discussion with Olympian Tom Daley about fad diets she started by trying to defend a zero-carb eating pattern and said: "I think it has to be ..." before revealing: "I've cut a lot of carbohydrate out of my daily eating.
"That's because I've cut out a lot of processed carbohydrate."
Susanna, 46, then added: "But you do get a lot of carbohydrates from eating your fruit and veg, don't you?
"So as long as you can do it in a way that you don't feel like you're denying yourself something crucial."
Competitive diver Tom, who has launched Tom's Daily Plan, said: "If you cut out carbohydrates then great, you'll get a quick fix, but you can't sustain that.
"It's having things where you're having a balance of things you're eating.
"It's changing your lifestyle, that's what it's all about."
Ahead of her first show back after the Christmas break, Susanna uploaded a shot of her early morning breakfast.
She posted the image of a take-out drink, sliced apple and a cup of peanut butter to her Twitter account, yet her followers were quick to quiz her meal.
One wrote: "What are you dunking your apple in?" while another cheeky fan wrote: "Hope that isn't Piers' stool sample."
Another added: "This looks good, I feel like I'm missing out on something delicious ... what are you dunking your apple into?"
Telly favourite Susanna's new diet has also been put under the spotlight by her co-host Piers Morgan.
After admitting she was feeling "frisky" on this morning's ITV show, he quipped: "You're very perky.
"Is it that weird diet you're on, where you're not eating or drinking anything?" to which she bluntly replied: "Hmm maybe."
She has previously revealed "sipping on green smoothies" had helped her shed the pounds after indulging last Christmas.
She took to Twitter to reveal: "Back to pre-Christmas weight! Not a saint when it comes to @gmb #EatMoreLoseMore but trying to make healthier choices. Green smoothies help."

She shared a picture of her bare-face compared to one of her fully made up.
She captioned it: “Me on Instagram = extra eyelashes, make-up & filters. Me in Real life = blemishes, lines & flaws.
“There’s a time & value for both but don’t compare your behind-the-scenes to others’ highlights reels. Happy Being You Year!”
The picture got a huge response from her followers with many telling her she was ‘amazing’ for sharing the honest snap.
On today's ITV show she hammered home her point and said: "Comparison is the thief of joy."
