ALEX Bowen has been slammed by a road safety charity for filming an Instagram video and giving the middle finger while driving.

In the clip, the Love Island star is driving down a busy motorway in his flashy Mercedes Benz before he flips the camera on himself as he mimes along to some dance tracks on the speakers.

At one stage, he appears to be driving without his hands on the wheel as he holds his phone is one hand and air punches along the music with the other.

He then turned the camera on the road which shows heavy traffic and two large articulated lorries in front of him.

Alex then pans the camera around the new motor, and hovers around the dashboard which shows his speed at 60mph.

He then flips his middle finger and captioned the video "traffic".

A spokesperson for Brake, the road safety charity, said Alex could have caused an accident by using his phone while driving.

They told The Sun Online: “Using a mobile phone behind the wheel is dumb and selfish. Alex is risking his, and other road users’ lives, and sending a terrible message to his fans.

"Evidence shows that using a phone behind the wheel affects reaction times as much as drink driving, increasing your risk of being involved in a crash and seriously injuring or killing yourself or other road users.

"At Brake, we work with many families who have lost loved ones and had their lives torn apart because someone thought they could multi-task behind the wheel.

"It’s vital that public figures like Alex set a positive example of safe driving behaviour.”

Alex's rep said he did not wish to comment when contacted by The Sun Online.

Meanwhile, on a happier note Alex's fiance Olivia Buckland has revealed his former fling Zara Holland is 'welcome' to attend their upcoming wedding.

The glamorous pair got together on the ITV reality show after Alex famously had a one-night stand with Zara, which resulted in her being stripped of her Miss Great Britain title.
