Ed Sheeran talks for the first time about Princess Beatrice stabbing him in the face and how James Blunt tried to take credit for ‘killing him’
The popstar opens up about the incident where he nearly lost his eye
ED Sheeran has spoken for the first time about Princess Beatrice cutting his face open with a sword, revealing "I was covered in blood".
The Thinking Out Loud star has been left with a scar on his cheek and claims pal James Blunt wanted to be credited with the horror.
In November The Sun revealed that in a party prank gone wrong, the princess accidentally cut Ed’s cheek below his eye as she tried to 'knight' fellow popstar James Blunt – leaving the singer having to go to hospital to get stitches.
Ed, 25, confided: "James would like me to tell everyone it was him and that he was trying to reclaim his pop career by killing me.
"Everyone was staring at me with their mouths open, I looked down and I was covered in blood."
Ed is currently promoting his return to the charts with not one, but two singles - Shape of You and Castle on the Hill.

Just last week the crooner hinted that he wasn't "allowed" to talk about the sword incident.
He told Radio 1 that he’d been hanging out with the Game of Thrones cast, when co-host Chris Stark joked that that’s where he’d have thought “the incident with the sword” would have happened.
However Ed suddenly became very cagey.
“Yeah… there’s… I don’t know if I can talk about that, you know,” he said awkwardly.
It's reported that Beatrice was apparently “inconsolable” at injuring him, as she said “arise Sir James” and cut Ed.
One source said: “He could have been blinded.”
Another added: “Everyone was totally shocked and apparently Beatrice was very upset.
“But Ed was the perfect gentleman and told her it was just an accident.
“However it became apparent that the wound needed treatment so Ed was taken to hospital. He had to have stitches put in.”
