Bisexual Right Said Fred star Richard Fairbrass opens up about devastating loss of his mum to Alzheimer’s and reveals new romance with a woman
I'm Too Sexy singer said his mother was 'no longer the mum we grew up with'
RICHARD Fairbrass has revealed he felt "relief" after he and his brother Fred, of Nineties hitmakers Right Said Fred, lost their beloved mum Betty last year.
The I'm Too Sexy singer, 63, said that Betty, who died in her sleep, had Alzheimer's, so he and Fred had "got used to losing her two or three years ago".
Speaking to best magazine, Richard continued: "She was 92 when she died, but no longer the mum we grew up with — she couldn't even make a cup of tea in the end. Alzheimer's had done that to her.
"When she died, I felt relief for her."
It's not the first time Richard has lost someone close to him.
In 2010 the singer, who came out as bisexual in The Sun in 1991, lost his long-term partner Stuart Pantry to cancer at the age of 45.
Richard has now revealed that after his mum died, he decided to embark on a new romance.
He said: "I moved out of [my mum's] house and started a new relationship — with a girl actually."
