S&M blockbuster Fifty Shades of Grey set to be turned into raunchy West End musical
Author E.L James confirms secret talks with theatre bosses keen to create stage adaptation of the steamy bestseller
FIFTY Shades of Grey is being turned into a musical, The Sun can reveal.
Writer E.L James, 53, has confirmed secret talks have taken place with theatre bosses to take her raunchy bestseller to the West End and Broadway.
And the move has sparked excitement in the theatre world, with many predicting the stage show will be a box office hit.
A theatre insider said: “There has been massive hype around the books and producers know that the stage adaptation will sell out in minutes.
“Theatre bosses have been in talks with E.L and although these things can take years to plan they know it will be a big success.
“It could be the sort of thing that hen parties will flock to with all the steamy scenes and tourists will love it too.”
The Sun’s revelation about the musical comes as soundtrack details were revealed for the latest film adaptation of the trilogy — Fifty Shades Darker — to be released next month.
Pop A-listers Taylor Swift, Zayn Malik and Sia all feature.
Fifty Shades of Grey, the first of the trilogy, smashed box office targets earning a whopping £400m in 2011.

Last night Fifty Shades creator E.L James confirmed she was in talks to take her books to the stage but remained tight lipped on the details.
Speaking at Cirque Du Soleil’s Amaluna launch she said: “Someone has asked me about that.
“Who knows? Never say never.”
