BUBBLY singer Amber Riley enjoyed a stint as a judge on BBC talent show Let it Shine in 2017.
The Glee actress helped put the contestants through their paces to find new stars for the West End stage. Here’s Amber’s story…
Where is Amber Riley from?
The 31-year-old was born in Los Angeles, California.
She attempted to pursue a singing career from her early teens but was turned down by the producers of Simon Cowell’s American Idol when she was 17.
In 2004, Amber graduated from La Mirada High School in California.
Once she left high school she continued to chase her dream career.
How did Amber Riley get famous?
Amber finally found her big break when she was cast in the role of Mercedes Jones in Glee in 2008.
Fox’s fictional character is a sassy diva-in-training who is desperate to land a solo spot when performing for her high school glee club.
The original cast-member starred in all six series of the drama-comedy show and was nominated for three Teen Choice Awards between 2010 and 2011.
Let it Shine was a music competition to find young men to star in The Band – a new musical featuring Take That songs.
The BBC One show was eventually won by the group Five to Five.
What other shows is Amber Riley known for?
In 2013, Amber Riley showed that she could sing, act AND dance when she appeared on ABC’s celebrity talent competition.
The US public were so impressed with her performances on Dancing with the Stars that she won the entire competition.
Amber has also continued to take up acting roles, playing Addaperle in The Wiz Live and doing voice work for an episode of The Simpsons.
