“Why am I hungry?” she asked through tears.

Trying to rationalise why, she revealed that aged 12 she had gone from living with her dad who was very strict, to her more relaxed mum.

“I was not allowed a TV in my room when everyone else was…dinner was at a set time and everything I had done had been strict.

She added it was “one extreme to the other. I leave dad to go to mum’s where I eat what I want.”

Helping her understand why she turns to food, Mandy said: “You are starving to be heard…the emotional need you have, you have translated it into food – you eat your feelings.

“The truth of matter is as a child you thought, ‘I am not wanted here,’ and that seed takes route.”

Lauren agreed, revealing: “I don’t want these feelings, I would rather not deal with it, you are making me cry.

“The sensible thing is to be an adult and tell my dad I’m sorry not because I did not care but purely because I wanted my mum and mum wanted me."

She added: “It was the first time I’d been wanted there and I could never understand why I was not wanted.”

Lauren also revealed that Towie bosses forced her to forced her to be the “crazy girlfriend” during her relationship with Mark Wright.

“There could be another girl in it ten times worse than me but that is not their character so they just get to do the nice stuff."

“I had to be serious. I could not be fun, calm or normal, they did not want to see that side of me and that is why people judge me on that show.

“I would be briefed before a scene – it was not scripted but briefed – and you were told if you did not go in harder it is not going to be shown.

“I was the crazy girlfriend so I reacted and had rows with other girls on screen.”
