In total, 50,000 free tickets for BBC Radio 1’s Big Weekend Hull 2017 were released during the Radio 1 Breakfast Show at 9.10am on Monday 10 April.
And 25,000 tickets were available for each day of the two-day event and they sold out in under an hour.
For this year’s event, more Big Weekend tickets than ever were made available for people living locally.
Of the geographically weighted tickets, 70 per cent were reserved for residents living within the area covered by Hull City Council and East Riding of Yorkshire Council, 25 percent were reserved for people living in the surrounding areas, defined as those with York (YO) or Doncaster (DN) postcodes but living outside the area covered by the two councils above; and anyone within a Lincoln (LN) postcode.
The remaining five percent of tickets were made available to other audiences across the UK.
Have extra security precautions been added for Radio 1's Big Weekend?
Following the devastating terrorist attack that unravelled in Manchester earlier this week, event organisers are determined to keep their guests safe.
A spokesperson for Big Weekend said: "After conducting a full review of the festival, in conjunction with the police and partners, various extra security measures have been put in place to ensure the safety of those attending.
"As part of this, everyone that enters the site will go through two rounds of thorough searches – one round conducted at transport hubs where police will be present, and a second round of security procedures at the entrance gates.
"We ask for the patience and cooperation of anyone coming to the event on the weekend and that they allow extra time to pass through security."
