Kym Marsh opens up about on-screen suicide bid as Coronation Street’s Michelle Connor struggles to cope with loss of tragic son Ruari
Fans take to Twitter to show support for heartbroken Michelle as she contemplates taking her life on tonight's show
KYM Marsh has revealed it was "hard to film" tonight's Coronation Street, as viewers saw her character Michelle Connor contemplating suicide.
Her bid to kill herself came after she recently suffered a miscarriage and had to give birth to her still born baby.
Kym herself also lost a baby in the same way.
Speaking to this week's OK! magazine Kym said: "This week you'll see my character Michelle's tragic suicide bid after losing her son Ruairi, which was really hard to film.
"Thankfully, I didn't reach that breaking point when I lost my son Archie, but i know how desperate you can feel when you lose a child."
She went on: " I've been portraying every emotion possible as Michelle, which is quite draining.
"But it's worth it to see that so many campaigns have started, like the petition so that babies born before 24 weeks are given birth certificates, which is somethign I'd liek to see."
She finished by saying: There needs to be some kind of recognition for those babies who sadly don't make it.
"No matter what, they're still someone's child and I think it seems cruel."
On tonight's episode viewers saw Michelle get drunk, she then stormed off and her frantic friends tried to track her down.
It’s Robert who eventually found her, sitting on the edge of a bridge – and he was terrified that she was going to jump.
He eventually managed to talk her down from the ledge.
Viewers immediately took to social media to share their support for Michelle.
One tweeted: "Oh Michelle 💔 #Corrie"
Another said: "Noooo! Don't do it Michelle"
While this one said: "@itvcorrie Great Double episode tonight, Smashing performance by @msm4rsh #Corrie 👍👏"
