This year, the UK’s entry to the 2017 Eurovision contest will be picked in a national final, Eurovision: You Decide, which will air on the BBC Two on January 27.

One of the singers vying for the chance to compete for the UK is former X Factor hopeful Nate Simpson.

Who is Nate Simpson?

Nate, 23, appeared on The X Factor in 2016 and before the show he had already released a debut EP, Steady, which was aired on BBC Radio 1.

He has also performed at the BBC Radio 2 Cheltenham Jazz Festival.

How far did Nate Simpson get in the X Factor?

Nate made it all the way to Judges’ Houses on The X Factor, before getting the boot by Nicole Scherzinger.

The American decided not to give him a coveted spot on the live shows, despite a superb performance of Ella Fitzgerald’s Summertime.

What will Nate Simpson be singing on Eurovision: You Decide?

Nate will be singing an original song called What Are We Made Of.

Currently the odds of him being selected as the champion of Eurovision: You Decide are at 12/1 - .

Strictly Come Dancing’s Bruno Tonioli, singer Sophie Ellis-Bextor and vocal coach CeCe Sammy will judge the singers at the event at the Hammersmith Apollo in London, with the public voting to decide the winner.

When is Eurovision: You Decide on TV?

This year, the UK’s entry to the 2017 Eurovision contest will be picked in a national final, Eurovision: You Decide, which will air on the BBC Two on January 27.

The preliminary dates for the 2017 Eurovision Song Contest have been released and it is expected to take place on Saturday May 13.
