How many children does Madonna have?
MADONNA has been an influential figure in the music industry for decades.
Not only does she share her music with the world, but Madonna also gives fans a look into her family life.
How many children does Madonna have?
Madonna has six children in total.
The singer has two biological children along with four adopted children.
Lourdes Maria Ciccone Leon
Madonna’s first child was born while she was dating personal trainer and actor Carlos Leon.
The pair had a daughter, Lourdes Maria Ciccone Leon, in 1996. Lourdes, who goes by “Lola,” is now forging a career of her own thanks to her mother’s influence.
A graduate of La Guardia School of Performing Arts in New York, Leon has pursued acting, singing, and dancing.
In the September 2021 issue of Vogue, Leon wanted the world to know that she is more than just Madonna’s daughter.
“People think I’m this talentless rich kid who’s had everything given to her, but I’m not,” Leon told the media outlet.
On August 24, 2022, Leon shared her debut single, Lock&Key, under the stage name, Lolahol.
Rocco Ritchie
Madonna and Guy Ritchie welcomed their son, Rocco, on August 11, 2000.
Rocco has mostly stayed out of the spotlight but is known for hanging out with celebrities, including Brooklyn Beckham.
Until 2018, Madonna and Guy locked in a bitter custody battle over him.
“We have been on many trips together around the world…But the greatest journey I have taken with you is the one inside my [heart emoji]. Love you to the moon and back. Forever and always,” Madonna captioned a photo on her son’s 21st birthday.
David Banda
David Banda was the first child that Madonna adopted from Malawi in 2006 when he was barely a year old.
He is now an aspiring football player. Banda was the reason Madonna moved to Portugal in 2017 as he signed with a junior football academy there.
In 2019, Madonna opened up about Banda to British Vogue and revealed that she shares a tight bond with the teenager.
“What he has more than anything is focus and determination,” Madonna said.
“I’m pretty sure he got it from me,” she continued. “He’s the one I have the most in common with. I feel like he gets me; he has more of my DNA than any of my children so far. Let’s see what happens – it’s still early days for everyone.”
Mercy James
Soon after adopting Banda, Madonna applied to adopt Chifundo “Mercy” James from Malawi in May 2009, but the country’s High Court first rejected the application because Madonna was not a resident there.
She re-appealed, and on June 12, 2009, the Supreme Court of Malawi granted her the right to adopt the little girl.
Mercy regularly appears on Madonna’s social media posts, where she showcases her talents in singing and playing the piano..
In 2017, Madonna opened the Mercy James Hospital in Blantyre, Malawi, in honor of her daughter.
Stella and Esther Ciccone
Madonna adopted Stella and Esther Ciccone from Malawi in 2017.
Madonna had previously shared a video of the girls getting to grips with a piano – suggesting they are taking an interest in music at a young age.
