Inside JLS star JB Gill’s incredible Grand Designs style makeover of £2m farmhouse with pool – after raid at knifepoint
It comes after a horror raid at his country pile
JLS hitmaker JB Gill has revealed plans for a slick party room and gym extension at his plush £2million farmhouse.
The Everybody In Love vocalist, 37, is planning a “luxury leisure and entertainment suite” in a significant expansion of his idyllic countryside pad.
The home is in rural surroundings, with The X Factor hitmaker trading in fame for life as a farmer.
They grow apples in the orchards in the vast 13-acre paddocks and have already installed an outdoor swimming pool, stables, a cinema and paddocks.
The JLS favourite has embarked on a farming career and keeps pigs and chickens at the smallholding where he has successfully produced award-winning turkeys and free-range pork.
Now, the One Shot vocalist wants to demolish an existing conservatory to make way for the lively space.
JB and wife Chloe have detailed their Grand Designs-style makeover with a first floor bedroom extension as well.
This will include a bigger, family-style utility room involving the demolition of an external walkway.
The popstar’s planning agent told the local council in a statement: “These proposals are an appropriate form of development at this property which lies in the green belt.
“The dwelling and the proposed minimal extensions will be well screened from the lane with significant vegetation around the entire site.
“This means that there is no harm to visual amenity of the wider area from the minimal extensions proposed here and, therefore, no impact on the green belt of rural character.
“The extensions are in keeping with the existing dwelling in terms of scale and form and result in a pleasing experience.
“The extensions will have no impact on surrounding properties and is a positive change to the dwelling as a whole.”
The Summer on the Farm host bought the four-bedroom farmhouse for £1.2million in 2011.
It is now believed to be worth £2million, with three reception rooms and a master suite.
Council officials will make a decision on the plans next month.
If planning permission is granted, building work is expected to start in August and be completed in March 2025.
Horror raid
Back in 2020, the boyband ace was sprayed in the face with oil by thugs who broke into his rural home.
He was attacked at 3am as he confronted the criminals, who then threatened wife Chloe with a knife.
The gang of four then fled with valuables.
We exclusively reported how the dad of two was taken to hospital for treatment.
We reported that they were “extremely shaken” but escaped serious injury.
A source at the time said: “This was a terrifying incident. JB was sprayed in the face and the gang threatened Chloe with a knife.
“He wanted to protect her and their kids but the best way to do that was to cooperate with the gang.
“Police and medics rushed to the house and JB was taken to hospital.
“Luckily, he wasn’t badly hurt and was able to leave later that day.”
Pop king
JLS shot to fame in 2008 when they finished runners-up on The X Factor.
JB and JLS bandmates Aston Merrygold, Oritse Williams and Marvin Humes had chart-topping hits with Beat Again, Everybody in Love, The Club is Alive and She Makes Me Wanna.
They split in 2013 with an estimated £6million fortune each.
