Emmerdale actress Charley Webb reveals that she was ‘anxious’ about big return to soap following year on maternity leave
EMMERDALE actress Charley Webb has revealed that she felt "anxious" about the prospect of returning to the soap.
Charley, who plays Debbie Dingle in the long-running soap, appeared on Loose Women to talk about her return to the soap and her baby son Bowie, who she has with partner Matthew Wolfenden.
The 28-year-old admitted that she found it difficult coming back after staying with her children at home for a year after giving birth to her son.
When asked by Gloria Hunniford whether she found it hard going back, she said: "It was. I think I was so anxious about it and the day was looming and the more... it was stressful but it was fine once I got there."
She also revealed that she had asked for a year off for maternity leave because she "just wanted to be at home".
Charley, who is also a mother to six-year-old Buster, spoke about the tragic storyline she is currently involved in, with Debbie's daughter Sarah suffering from cancer, and said that she was "back in at the deep end".
Ruth Langsford asked how far in advance she knew she would be involved in a difficult storyline.

She revealed: "Yeah, quite far. Ian [McLeod], our new producer, had a meeting with him a while before I made the decision to go back and he told me about the story and how I felt about it, and he was amazing.
"I knew well in advance - I was well prepared."
Last week Debbie Dingle made her explosive return to the Dales - but it was sadly marred with heartbreak after she later revealed that her 11-year-old daughter Sarah Sugden was dying of cancer.
