Nazi stormtroopers and swastikas surround London’s most iconic buildings in shock scenes from new drama SS-GB

Scenes in the new BBC1 show, which imagines the Germans won the Battle of Britain, will see Buckingham Palace adorned in Hitler's regalia

ADORNED in Swastikas and semi-destroyed, Buckingham Palace stands crumbling in the centre of occupied London.

The striking scenes are taken from the BBC’s shock new Sunday night drama, SS-GB, a dramatisation of Len Deighton’s novel which imagines Britain in 1941 if Adolf Hitler’s Nazis had won The Battle of Britain.

Starring Sam Ridley as detective Douglas Archer and Kate Bosworth as American journalist Barbara Barga, viewers will be gripped by the thriller which leaves the stars wondering whether to side with the German invaders for a comfortable life or join the resistance movement.

But images of iconic London landmarks including the Houses of Commons and Trafalgar Square plastered with Adolf Hitler's regalia in the midst of World War 2 are likely to send a chill down the spines of viewers.

And star Kate Bosworth admitted: “However long we spent on set, we never became relaxed or comfortable with it. It was very difficult to see it.”

The Sun enjoyed an early preview of the hotly anticipated drama, which follows Police Inspector Archer around London as he wrestles with his conscience and loyalties.#

And sources connected to the show admit: "It won't be an easy watch for viewers, but it's a powerful story and a thought-provoking concept.

"It's not comfortable viewing at times - even all this time later, the thought of Hitler winning the war is pretty chilling."
