Wildest celeb stag dos… including top royal’s fireworks fight and Premier League star caught in a VERY awkward photo
One celeb was busted over a cringe naked gaffe on TV years later
WHETHER it’s being chained to a lamp post, given a lap dance or passing out fully clothed – we’ve all heard at least one wild stag-do story.
And it seems no-one – no matter how rich or famous they are – necessarily avoids such tales of raucous partying… it’s just a little bit more fancy.
Just last week, details emerged from singer Tom Grennan’s wild Las Vegas stag do, where the singer landed a staggering £10,000 gambling win.
In true stag-do fashion, his pals even mocked up a hilarious ‘missing’ poster for the star, stating he was 57, and potentially suffering from ‘delusions of grandeur’.
From topless waiters, guests stripping off and one groom-to-be dressing up as a chicken, to splurging thousands on booze bills – some of the world’s most famous men have held staggeringly expensive stag nights.
Wayne Rooney
When Wayne Rooney proposed to his then-girlfriend Coleen in 2003 aged just 17, there was no expense spared for the stag do ahead of their extravagant £5million Italian wedding.
The Ibiza party took place years later in 2008 with the 22-year-old star footballer flying out 13 of his nearest and dearest.
He boasted about spending £10,000 a head, so guests were instructed to leave their wallets at home.
The four-day bash saw the group, which included Wayne’s two brothers, his dad and his father-in-law, sucking back Sambuca at Lineker’s, popping bottles at multiple superclubs and sailing on a 60-foot yacht.
Wayne even rented a hillside villa complete with a pool, outdoor bar and terrace so the group could sleep and relax in their downtime.
Andy Carroll
Footballer Andy Carroll’s Dubai stag before he wed Towie star wife Billi Mucklow hit the headlines – for all the wrong reasons.
Fans were left concerned the wedding might not even go ahead after the star, now 34, was reportedly snapped passed out between a pair of blonde models.
Thankfully both the star and the women were able to quickly set the record straight and made clear nothing untoward happened – although it was understood bride-to-be Billi was left less than impressed.
They worked through it, and are still together and proud parents, sharing three children, aged eight, five and three.
Elton John
In 2005, Elton John, now 77, leapt at the chance to marry his long-term partner David Furnish, 61, when the law changed to allow same-sex civil unions in the United Kingdom.
The stag do, which came before the pair’s long-awaited marriage, was rumoured to have cost £100,000.
The extensive guest list included rock legend Ozzy Osbourne, Kid Rock, Liz Hurley, Scissor Sisters frontman Jake Shears and Orlando Bloom, who all partied with the couple at the newly opened Too2Much cabaret nightclub in Soho.
Topless waiters served sparkling wine and drag queen Lily Savage performed for the group, as did the iconic boy band Take That.
The party got a little wild, with Jake Shears revealing years later on an episode of The Masked Singer in 2020 that Ozzy Osbourne saw him naked at the party.
Speaking to Ozzy’s daughter Kelly who was guest judging, he said: “Ozzy Osbourne once saw me in nothing but my birthday suit, tonight I’m not horsing around.”
Kelly clocked his identity immediately, saying “Jake Shears from the Scissor Sisters, as I know my dad has seen him naked. It was Elton’s stag party.”
Mike Tindall
Mike Tindall is known for being one of the most down to earth members of the ‘Firm’.
And he proved that when he was pictured enjoying extended drinking sessions dressed in various funny outfits on his stag do in Florida – much to the amusement of the other royals.
In one swanky bar the 11-strong group even racked up a £12,000 bar tab including ten bottles of tequila and a bottle of Dom Perignon Rose costing over £800.
Speaking on a JOE UK podcast, Mike said: “I got ripped – they got stuck into me after I got back from my stag do when it was the Duke’s 90th.
“All of them. It was in the papers. ‘Had a good time did you?’.”
He’s not the only royal to have fully embraced and enjoyed the pre-nuptial tradition either…
Prince Harry
Before his 2018 wedding to Meghan Markle, Prince Harry partied hard in the countryside with his brother Prince William and their close friends.
The party was held at a friend’s Hampshire country home and the group enjoyed boxing, a mechanical bull and face painting – as well as a lot of alcohol.
In his book Spare, he said he turned up to the weekend “ready to party”.
But perhaps he got a little more than he bargained for because Prince Harry found himself on the receiving end of a rather “boys will be boys” activity.
He revealed at one point he was dressed up as a giant chicken whilst his friends shot fireworks at him from afar.
He said: “All right, I offered to do it. Whoever comes closest wins!”
Prince William
The future King also enjoyed a stag do too, before his 2011 nuptials to Kate Middleton.
The party was held that same year at a mansion in Devon with 20 of his friends – including his best man Prince Harry.
The group enjoyed clay shooting, surfing and party games at Hartland Abbey – but the future King didn’t escape all ridicule, saying her was often to wear a chest wig and hair piece.
In a later interview, Prince William revealed he and his brother Prince Harry had employed “military precision” in their planning to ensure the media weren’t leaked any details of the bash.
George Clooney
Hollywood royalty George Clooney, 62, splashed out for his last night as an unmarried man with a seven-course dinner in Italy which could have cost £3,000 – if the manager hadn’t waived the entire bill as a treat.
Before he married his wife, human rights lawyer Amal Clooney, 46, George visited the charming Ristorante da Ivo in Venice with five close friends.
George is thought to be a regular at the restaurant where he gave the manager ten minutes notice before turning up for their feast.
The group ate five courses and two puddings, washed down with multiple bottles of £250 vintage wine.
At the end of the meal, the manager waived the whole bill for the group as a wedding gift to the superstar.
George married his stunning bride the following day in a ten-minute civil service.
Jamie Laing
Made in Chelsea star Jamie Laing, 35, flexed his posh stag do in the French Alps on Instagram before he married his wife Sophie Habboo, 31, in 2019.
The 34-year-old CEO and podcast host travelled to Val d’Isère with his friends for a stylish luxury skiing retreat.
Joining the group was a private chef who cooked all the group’s meals for them.
In snaps posted to social media, Jamie flaunted the custom stag do merch including hats from Gigi and Olive with “Jamie’s Ski School” printed across them.
He didn’t escape ridicule either, with his friends forcing him to wear a costume of his sweets business Candy Kittens while he skied down the mountain.
Joe Swash
Before marrying his wife Stacey Solomon in 2022, former EastEnders star Joe Swash, 42, partied hard in Ibiza, dancing in the VIP section of O Beach club – owned by Wayne Lineker.
Tables at the luxury club don’t come cheap, ranging from £388 to £1,379.
Joe was joined at the bash by fellow Eastenders star Dean Gaffney, ex-TOWIE star Ricky Rament, comedian Rob Beckett and Stacey’s Dad David.
At the club, the group were surprised by a group of swimsuit-clad hostesses holding up letters to spell out ‘SWASHY’.
It seems it all got a bit too much for the main man however, with Joe seemingly passing out at one point.
Kit Harington
Before taking the hand of his Game of Thrones co-star Rose Leslie, Kit Harington, 37, spent a luxury weekend with his pals in the Welsh countryside.
Splashing out £4,000 for a secret stag do with his mates, the handsome star spent his weekend ziplining and drinking at the local pub.
The actor booked a weekend at Henllan’s Erivat Hall in North Wales where even a basic room will run you about £550 a night.
The spacious party pad boasts a huge indoor hot tub as well as beds for up to 30 people and the package Kit picked included hovercraft racing, high ropes and horse trekking – coming in with a price tag of £127 per person.
