CONTROVERSIAL comedian Russell Brand says he was baptised in the Thames on Sunday and is now a Christian.
Brand previously said he was a Buddhist but reckoned he saw baptism as an opportunity “to die and be reborn”.
In a video on social media yesterday, he said he had found his “path” and had felt “incredibly blessed” and “nourished” following the ceremony.
Brand, 48, has been accused of rape, sexual assault and emotional abuse by four women after a joint probe by Channel 4’s Dispatches and The Times.
He denies all claims about his behaviour at the height of his fame between 2006 and 2013.
In the clip at the weekend Brand did not mention the accusations directly, but referenced “challenges”.
Singer Nicole Scherzinger said: “Amen! So awesome you are doing this! Jesus is the way!
“You will be reborn, renewed and cleansed!
“Maybe just don’t do it in the Thames, praying for you.”
