The Jump’s Louis Smith boasts he’s got the longest jump in the group as co-star Josie Gibson dismisses claims the show is dangerous

Former Olympian Louis has bragged about how far he can jump on Good Morning Britain ahead of the start of the Channel 4 show

LOUIS Smith has revealed he’s holding the record for the longest jump on the hit Channel 4 skiing show.

Appearing on Good Morning Britain alongside his Jump co-stars Josie Gibson, the former Olympian boasted about how well he’s doing in the competition.

Louis said: “We’ve been jump training, I can’t say for sure but I think I’ve got one of the longest jumps already. You get such a buzz!”

Josie started to laugh when Louis started to boast, telling Susanna Reid, Ben Shephard and Richard
Arnold: “Hey, have you heard this?”

Louis continued: “I love extreme sports – when I was younger I used to do BMX and I had to give it up to focus on my gymnastics.

“I’ve wanted to do the Jump since after the Olympic Games Rio – I was probably the first one to sign up to be honest.”

The hit Channel 4 show has been under fire since it first started, after a number of individuals suffered long term injuries after taking part.

Tina Hobley, who took part in last year’s series, is still walking with a crutch and admits she cannot drive or dress herself unaided.

She said in December: “I’m still in shock that [the show] is going again, but of course they will have learnt from their mishaps and hopefully there won’t be any more accidents.”

“It has been a really tough year, I’m not going to deny that, but we’re out the other side and I am hoping I won’t be left with any long-term problems.”

Josie isn’t worried about the dangers however and said on Wednesday morning: “Well Susanna, I once did a combat role over my sofa and broke my wrist!

“I’d rather be doing something extreme. You do worry about the injuries but it’s an extreme sport and I’m having the time of my life!

“I’d never even looked at a pair of skis before I got here, it’s all fresh for me but he training is phenomenal!”
