A host of A-list stars flashed the flesh including JLo and Sydney Sweeney.
CELEBRITIES dared to bare all at this year’s Met Gala, with nudity and sheer fashion becoming the central style for stars including Emily Ratajkowski and Rita Ora.
This year’s theme was Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion, with the dress code being The Garden of Time.
For some, they took this to mean the Garden of Eden, taking inspiration from Adam and Eve themselves to wear next to nothing with just their essentials covered up.
Both Emily, 32, and Rita, 33, awakened the attention of onlookers with their daring see-through looks at the 2024 Met Gala.
The Victoria’s Secret model walked the green carpet in a form-fitting, silver lace gown that featured an ornate, leaf-like design.
The sheer dress left little to the imagination as she wore only thong panties underneath the see-through ensemble revealing her bare chest and bottom.
The back featured a large cutout, exposing her bare back and stopping right above her revealing underwear.
Emily wore the front part of her dark brunette hair parted down the middle, allowing her bangs to frame her perfectly made-up face, while the back was pulled up into an elegant bun.
Rita sported an equally jaw-dropping Met Gala look.
Arriving at the fashion event with her husband, Jojo Rabbit director Taika Waititi, the Anywhere singer donned a strappy, floor-length garment over a sheer bodysuit.
The over-shoulder garment included strips of yellow, purple, and green material that accentuated Rita’s svelte figure while covering the more intimate areas of her body.
Her brunette hair was styled in a messy, wet look that clung to her head while also drawing attention to her sculpted facial features.
On X, formally Twitter, fans weighed in on the For You singer’s sheer ensemble.
One person accused Rita of dressing like Kanye’s wife Bianca Censori, 29, writing, “Rita Ora, cosplaying as… Bianca Censori?”
“Why is Rita Ora dressed like Bianca Censori?” a second follower asked.
The sentiment continued, as another commenter asked, “Why is everyone tryna be Bianca Censori?”
Rita wasn’t the only star in attendance to garner harsh feedback.
Met Gala 2024 Theme
The theme of the 2024 Met Gala is The Garden of Time, which draws inspiration from the latest exhibition of the Costume Institute at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, titled Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion.
WOAH, ZEN!
Zendaya donned a colorful dress at this year’s Met Gala, but fans were split on her peacock-inspired outfit.
The actress wore a custom Margiela by Galliano gown, inspired by a Christian Dior haute couture piece from the spring of 1999.
The strapless dress featured a puffy blue sash that covered one shoulder, as she walked the green carpet.
The Challengers star complemented the look with a matching beret and makeup that matched the colors of her dress.
While the outfit certainly met the theme of The Garden of Time, fans on X were split in their opinions.
“Oh Zendaya never disappoints,” one person declared, while another stated, “Hard pass.”
“She could’ve gone so many different directions,” they continued.
“Mmmh, what’s this makeup?” a third fan asked.
MEET THE MET
The theme for the 2024 Gala, The Garden of Time, draws inspiration from the latest exhibition of the Costume Institute at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, titled Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion.
The exhibit is said to feature around 250 rare items drawn from the Costume Institute’s permanent collection, which spans the past 400 years of fashion history.
Items and designs from fashion houses Schiaparelli, Dior, Givenchy, and more are all on display.
Also in use this year is the magic of CGI, AI, and other animations, to help showcase some of the rarest outfits that are too fragile to display.
This year’s hosts included Zendaya, Jennifer “JLo” Lopez, Bad Bunny, and Chris Hemsworth.
The event was created by publicist Eleanor Lambert in 1948 as a charity event to raise money for the Costume Institute.
The Met Gala was been held in venues such as Central Park, the Rainbow Room, and the Waldorf Astoria in New York City.
Now, however, it has morphed into a colossal cocktail and dinner affair, hosting approximately 400 to 450 handpicked guests.
A single ticket commands a staggering $75,000, while a 10-seat table starts at a formidable $350,000.
AFTER PARTY
After the main celebrations were done, the celebs flocked to a series of after parties – and seized the opportunity for a wardrobe change.
Rita was even more risky with her choice of look, and changed into completely sheer ensemble exposing her breasts.
The white draping outfit had giant starfishes covering her hips and pelvic area, with dozens of strings of pearls draping down to give the illusion of a skirt.
She kept warm with a huge fur drape over her arms and shoulders.
Kendall Jenner opted for a lace number with billowing sleeves and a corset.
Sydney Sweeney opted for a completely backless leather number, wearing a bold black cropped wig.
Emily Ratajkowski changed into a a blue, sheer negligee-style dress exposing her bra and thong.
