Another legendary British actress has also signed on the dotted line
WHEN it comes to a hit sitcom, the main characters tend to be the main focus. But die hard fans never forget the pivotal role played by the supporting cast.
Now that Gavin and Stacey is set to return for a final series, there appears, speculation is rife as to which cast members will return, alongside writers James Corden and Ruth Jones who will also star.
But actor Robert Wilfort has now become the second star to confirm that he will be involved.
The 47-year-old plays Stacey’s brother Jason and he took to social media to reveal tell his followers that he’s signed up up.
Reposting the black and white photo of James Corden and Ruth Jones holding the script, he wrote, “Here we go then,” as a slew of fans rushed to congratulate him.

Indeed Robert’s character Jason was involved in a famous fishing trip scene that has left fans asking questions about what happened ever since.
The ‘fishing trip’ began life as a minor plot detail in Gavin and Stacey’s fifth episode and has ended in a conspiracy of vast proportions that has gripped the show across three seasons and two Christmas specials.
The fascination of said trip, has also come as a surprise to the actor, who now confesses that the mystery helped to cement his role as an integral part of the show.
He said: “It’s a mystery and I love that we’re never gonna find out. Or are we? Who knows? Maybe one day we will. But as far as I know, I don’t think the public will ever know what happened on that fateful trip.”
Asked if her character will feature in the one-off festive special, Alison said, “yes!”.
The Liverpool- born actress revealed it was very early days but insisted: “I know it’s going to happen.
“I just haven’t seen the script – none of us has seen the script.”
The popular BBC sitcom Gavin and Stacey was co-created and written by James and Ruth, who also starred as Smithy and Nessa, best friends of the titular couple Gavin (Matthew Horne) and Stacey (Joanna Page).
The series ran from 2007 to 2010, with its first Christmas special airing on BBC One in 2008.
However, it returned almost a decade later for another epic Christmas special in 2019.
Viewers went wild over their fan-favourite characters returning to the small screen, but the episode finished on a major cliffhanger.
Nessa proposed to Smithy, but the episode ended before he gave his answer.
