CHERYL took a hilarious swipe at her Girls Aloud band mate Nadine Coyle love on stage at one of their comeback gigs.
The group, which formed back in 2002 on Popstars: The Rivals, are currently touring UK and Ireland as part of The Girls Aloud Show.
The tour kicked off in Dublin on the 17th and last night Cheryl, Nadine, Nicola Roberts and Kimberley Walsh performed in Belfast.
One fan account on X, formerly known as Twitter, shared the singer making a funny dig at Nadine.
As Cheryl welcomed the crowd at the beginning of the gig, she made reference to Nadine’s stint on Irish Popstars, where she lied about her age to get on the show.
Cheryl said: “We had to come to Ireland anyway…
“You know why? To make sure Nadine remembered her passport.”
On the show Nadine told the camera: “I’m Nadine Coyle.
“I’m from Lark Hill in Derry. Date of birth 15th of the sixth 1985, making me a Gemini.
“And… what date of birth did I say there?”
This would have made her 16 at the time, but all contestants had to be a minimum age of 18.
Then she was asked to give her passport over to prove how old she actually was – and she coincidentally couldn’t find it.
Nadine later confessed to judge Linda Martin about her age – and she was kicked off the show.
The TV moment has made history and many fans still talk about it to this day.
Back in 2021 the star revealed that fans have while she has been performing.
Nadine told : “I did a show in Belfast last week, and you know the way people throw stuff on stage, I’ve been thrown an actual passport!
“Their actual passport! And you’re looking at it going, ‘This is someone’s actual passport.’
“Not a pretend one, not one that they’ve made for the night.
“But they thought it was a good idea, in that moment, to hand their real passport to me on stage.’
“I just thought, ‘You might need this’.”
The Girls Aloud Show kicks tarted last week and is due to end on June 30.
The band announced the news on Instagram last year.
They wrote on the social media platform: “We’re so excited to announce that we will be touring the UK & Ireland in May and June 2024.
“A celebration of Sarah, our music and our incredible fans. We can’t wait to sing and dance with you all once again. -Cheryl, Kimberley, Nadine & Nicola 💋.”
On August 26, 2020, Sarah made the heartbreaking revelation on Twitter that she had breast cancer and it had advanced to other parts of her body.
The singer underwent chemo, but on September 5 2023, Sarah’s mum Marie revealed she had passed away.
Paying tribute to the singer, her devastated mother wrote: “It’s with deep heartbreak that today I’m sharing the news that my beautiful daughter Sarah has sadly passed away.
“Many of you will know of Sarah’s battle with cancer and that she fought so strongly from her diagnosis until her last day.
“She slipped away peacefully this morning. I’d like to thank everyone for their kind support over the past year. It meant the world to Sarah and it gave her great strength and comfort to know she was loved.”
Girls Aloud formed on Popstars: The Rivals in the early 2000s.
They have gone on to become one of the most successful girl bands of all time with four million albums sold in the UK.
