The One Show viewers share fury as new Death in Paradise actor Ardal O’Hanlon leaks huge plot twist live on air

THE One Show viewers were less than impressed after actor Ardal O'Hanlon's appearance on the show turned out to reveal a huge spoiler for Death in Paradise fans.

Some viewers were left seething after they discovered the Father Ted star would be joining the show for the latest series to replace current star Kris Marshall.

Despite the fact The Sun exclusively revealed the news Kris had quit the show, fans were shocked to hear of the departure through Ardal's interview.

One furious fan wrote:"Thanks for that huge spoiler #deathinparadise #theoneshow #Ididnotknow"

While one stated: "Aww @BBCTheOneShow has just done a massive spoiler about the change of lead detective on #DeathInParadise."

Another chimed: "Very annoyed with the #oneshow. Total spoiler of #deathinparadise. Grrr..."

One viewer added: "The One Show has just ruined  Death In Paradise for me.  @BBCTheOneShow @ardalsfolly think you've just spoilt the plot of @deathinparadiseforme :("

Ardal explained on the show that his character would bear some similarity to Kris' DI Humphrey Goodman and Ben Miller's DI Richard Poole but bring something different to the table.

He explained: "I think the reason they went for me is because I'm not that quintessential British man abroad.

"I think they felt they'd done that with Ben and Kris so they wanted to go in a little bit of a different direction."

Kris had announced his departure last week during an appearance on Good Morning Britain as he told hosts Susanna Reid and Ben Shephard: "I've done four years and it's an amazing show but it's time for someone else to have some fun in the sun."

Death In Paradise returns to BBC One on Thursday at 9pm.
