TOM Holland has been told to dash after starring in Romeo and Juliet — to prevent love-struck fans causing chaos outside the theatre.

Police and council officials met with bosses and told Tom to leave within ten minutes of the final curtain.

A source told The Sun: “Tom is a pro and was more than happy to oblige.”

The theatre is employing extra security with up to 20 staff trying to control throngs outside.

Video shows one warning: “Don’t rush into the road. There are still cars coming!”

But people still surged forward as Tom, 27, ducked into a chauffeur-driven Mercedes.

All tickets for the Shakespeare classic sold out in just two hours due to a mad scramble by fans.

Romeo and Juliet will be at the Duke of York’s Theatre until August 3 before it transfers to Broadway later this year.

The most glowing review, a five-star write-up in the Telegraph, said Holland “ravishes” and “mesmerises” as Romeo.

Other critics struggled to get exercised, describing Tom’s Romeo as “fine”, “perfectly OK” and “perfectly plausible”.

A Westminster City Council spokesperson told The Sun yesterday: “We welcome visitors to the West End and it is fantastic to see how popular theatres are. However, maintaining pavements and public spaces is important to ensuring public safety.

“Managing crowds and access is the responsibility of each theatre. Where there are issues, we can work with venues and the police to provide additional support.”
