Kym and her then partner actor Jamie Lomas lost Archie in 20009 when she gave birth to him just 23 weeks into her pregnancy.

And today she tweeted: “This day 8 yrs ago my baby boy got his angel wings. Happy birthday my beautiful Archie. We love you very much and we miss you every day.”

And her fans left messages of sympathy and to let her know they were thinking of her.

One said: “Happy Birthday angel Archie sending you and your family so much love Kym, be strong."

And another added: “Thinking of you today Kim. I can't imagine what your feeling. I'll raise my glass to little archie this evening. All my love x.”

Her mother Pauline also tweeted to mark the day and wrote: “Happy birthday my beautiful little grandson Archie always in our hearts and in our thoughts love you so much little man xx.”

Some also praised Kym for her strength during her recent Corrie storyline that brought it all back for the former pop star.

One fan said: “Cannot imagine how it feels or how you coped during ur coronation Street scenes, must have brought it all back, so brave, xxxx.”

Kym stars as Michelle Connor on the ITV soap and last month the character suffered a miscarriage after her waters broke and her baby son, who was just 23 weeks, didn’t survive.

Kym said: “I thought long and hard before agreeing to take on the challenge of this storyline. It is a cause very close to my heart having lost my beautiful Archie.

“I have had to go to some very dark places in my mind while filming these heart-breaking scenes, but my family, friends and colleagues have been incredible. Losing a child is something that never leaves you so to revisit those feelings has been challenging.”
