'IT'S THE NATURAL WAY'

Tamara Ecclestone defends her controversial breastfeeding photoshoot on GMB insisting it’s something she ‘truly believes in’

The heiress spoke out on Monday's Good Morning Britain after the glam snaps showing her with her two-year-old

TAMARA Ecclestone insists breastfeeding is something she "truly believes in" as she hit back at critics of a glam photoshoot showing her in the tender moment with toddler Sophia.

The socialite was captured nursing the two-year-old in a selection of beautiful shots but defended her actions on today's Good Morning Britain, claiming she was an Earth mum who also supported co-sleeping.

She told host Kate Garraway: "It's the natural way.

"Everything just feels right. When you're a mum you should trust your instincts."

Tamara confessed little Sophia, aged two, now just "rolls over and finds my boob" as she is so used to getting her feed that way.

She added: "The natural way is up until four and a half years but I don't know if she will get to that.

"It depends if she has outgrown it.

"She's not going to go to university and still be on my nipple.

"I was privileged. I didn't have to rush to work and I could take time to breastfeed and bond with her.

"You make it work for you and your family - but lots of people have a strange mentality about it."

Talking about her infamous photoshoot earlier this month Formula One boss Bernie Ecclestone's daughter gushed: "It was the most amazing, beautiful moment.

"It's something I am so so proud of."

Tamara then defended claims she was reducing Sophia's independence by continuing to breastfeed her she approaches her third birthday.

Tamara said: "I'm helping her to be independent from me.

"She goes to nursery, she's very social and very outgoing.

"I'm creating independence for her. Her personality is not a needy child.

"She's not on my breast all day every day - but I'm not prepared to take it away from her."

Tamara, 32, added: "I will never feel uncomfortable about such a natural act."

Viewers were quick to take to Twitter and give the thumbs up to Tamara's decision.

One wrote: "What a lovely lady. Good for her, I really can't understand why people get such a bee in their bonnets about something so natural!"

Another added: "don't know what the fuss is about. It's natural!" while one put: "Bravo Tamara Ecclestone for supporting continuing feeding. My son was weaned as a toddler. It was the right time for me and for him."

Yet some took issue with her decision to publicly post the snaps on her Instagram and in a magazine.

Last month Tamara was praised by fans for posting a picture of herself breastfeeding her Sophia on board a private plane.

The candid photo showed the tot huddled into her mum’s chest as she nursed her ahead of take-off.

It came days before her glam photoshoot which saw her feeding her daughter in her plush home.

In the stunning pic, Tamera is dressed in a beautiful white floaty dress, and her tiny tot is dressed in pink.

Their outfits match the beautiful couch they are sat on, which is filled with pink and white pillows, with “Sophia” written on the wall in the background.

Next to the post she wrote: “Thank you @ivetteivens for capturing this beautiful moment this is by far my favourite photograph but mainly thank you for spreading this message. Breastfeeding is a powerful demonstration of love and nurturing yet it has become so normal to hide. I want to take that normal and toss it.”

The photographer, Ivette Ivens, also shared the pic, and wrote “breastfeeding goddess” next to it.
