Skinny dipping headteacher claims her career was ruined after nude hobby was outed and she refused to give it up
A HEADTEACHER claims her career was ended early after she was outed as a naturist.
Christine Wright, 60, refused to give up her love of the hobby and says she was forced to take early retirement as a result.
The former school teacher, who appears completely starkers in a new Channel 4 documentary, The Great British Skinny Dip, into the dwindling pastime, said someone revealed the news to her bosses to “hurt her”.
She said: “It’s not something I ever spoke about at work but some busy body outed me.
“They rang up my employer and told them I was a naturist. To hurt me. It ended up with me taking early retirement. I’m not going deny who I am.”
Defending her passion for naturism in the show, Christine said many people have the wrong idea about it - with some even believing it has links to paedophiles.
She added: “All my life I’ve kept my private life, private - because most teachers do. You can come under suspicion if you know you take your clothes off in your private.
"There are people think because I’m a naturist I must be a paedophile.”
Christine is now a proud naturist, and spends her spare time helping the British Naturism campaign to recruit new members.
The documentary follows their attempts to attract people to a public skinny dip - after membership numbers fell from 1,000 to just 400.

She says she believes that naturism is misunderstood, comparing them to other minorities.
She added: “Sometimes I think we’re in the same position the gay community were in 20 years ago.
“In that although there was nothing unlawful about it, there are some people that think it’s not very nice, and those people that although they’re in a minority they seem to shout louder than the tolerant people that are around.”
