Brad Pitt’s F1 flick Apex lines up two legendary commentators as major film cameos
One of the commentator's trademark catchphrase will feature in the movie
FORMULA 1 fans should keep an eye out for two very special appearances in Brad Pitt’s new racing film Apex.
I can exclusively reveal that legendary telly commentators Martin Brundle and David Croft will make cameos.
Apex follows Brad as F1 veteran Sonny Hayes, who returns to race for one final time while mentoring rookie driver, Pearce, played by Damson Idris. Lewis Hamilton has been brought in as a consultant.
A source said: “Brad has gone all out to make Apex the most realistic F1 film ever made and he wanted some of the UK’s most iconic racing voices to help bring it to life.
“Martin and Crofty both signed up for cameos and have filmed their scenes.
“Crofty’s trademark catch- phrase, ‘It’s lights out and away we go’, will feature too. They jumped at the chance to get involved.”
I’ll be heading to the cinema for this one – just to see Brad in a race suit . . .
HOLDEN ON AT HEART
FANS of Amanda Holden‘s Heart Breakfast Show will be pleased to know she’s sticking around.
I can exclusively reveal the Britain’s Got Talent judge has signed a two-year deal to stay at the radio station.
A source said: “Amanda is thrilled that she’s staying on the airwaves with Jamie Theakston.
“She absolutely loves Heart Breakfast.”
It’s been a whirlwind year so far for Amanda, who quit her management team YMU six months ago.
Since then her career has been riding higher than ever and she is back on air today at Heart after spending the past three weeks filming the third series of her BBC One renovation show with Alan Carr, Amanda & Alan’s Italian Job.
Amanda, welcome back. We’ve missed you.
VOGUE WILLIAMS will fill in for Ryan Tubridy next week on Virgin Radio UK in his 10am to 1pm slot.
And while she can’t wait to chat to the nation, Vogue said: “Big shoes to fill but I’m very excited.
“And I love the canteen there. I’m going to have a jacket potato.” We use it too and I also recommend the giant oat and raisin cookies, Vogue.
JOPLIN TRIBUTE IS A HIT
A NEW stage musical about the life of 1960s rock legend Janis Joplin is a surefire hit, with her brother Michael telling us he was blown away by the show.
A Night With Janis Joplin will run at London’s Peacock Theatre from August 21 to September 28, with Tony Award-nominated actress Mary Bridget Davies, playing the singer, who died from a heroin overdose in 1970 aged 27.
Her music has inspired a legion of artists, including Miley Cyrus and Stevie Nicks, and Michael said: “One of the things Janis brought to the stage is the sincerity, the honesty of the music.”
The show celebrates Janis’s musical inspirations and includes some of her biggest songs, from Piece Of My Heart to Cry Baby and Me And Bobby McGee.
Bra-vo girls
LESS is more for Leigh-Anne Pinnock and Maya Jama.
The pair put on their best summer outfits as they led a host of A-list faces at the annual Serpentine Gallery Summer Party in London’s Hyde Park.
Making full use of the heatwave, Leigh-Anne looked incredible in this tiny jewelled bra and silver chainmail skirt.
The former Little Mix singer is enjoying a break in her schedule after a successful debut solo show this month.
She will embark on a mini UK tour in the autumn.
Like Leigh-Anne, Love Island host Maya went for a similar fashion vibe, wearing this black bra and leopard- print shawl as she partied the night away while drinking rosé wine.
Now that’s a girl after my own heart.
Biz blinds… naming no names
ONE high-profile Brit star is still very touchy about their past love of marching powder – despite previously talking about it at length.
After inviting one of our reporters to meet Blanked Blanked for what they said promised be a “tell-all” chat to promote their burgeoning beauty business, the big TV name cancelled with two minutes to spare after their PR caught sight of the hack’s notes, which included a question about “rehab”.
Mabel keen to Mix it with Jade
MABEL had a good reason to smile at the Attitude Pride Awards yesterday – and not just because she got a free lunch.
The singer won two first-class British Airways flights in the charity raffle.
She was helping celebrate trailblazers in the LGBTQ+ community in this pink dress, right, and spilled on the red carpet how she wants to team up with Little Mix’s Jade Thirlwall.
She said: “I love all of them. It’s so difficult to branch out on your own. I heard Jade’s snippet so I’m excited about her.”
Rylan Clark, below with pal Rob Rinder, hosted the bash, sponsored by Peugeot, in central London and said of the revelation he has been releasing music under a pseudonym: “I’ve enjoyed doing something that is a secret. It’s been really fun.”
Ireland’s Eurovision act Bambie Thug, said they are keen on a collab with Jedward, saying: “I love those guys.”
