GLASTO MAGIC

All the rumoured Glastonbury secret sets – from iconic rock band to Dua Lipa’s ‘surprise guests’

We revealed a past headliner will play an intimate set on Saturday

DOZENS of incredible music acts will grace Glastonbury Festival this weekend from Coldplay and SZA to Idles and Disclosure.

But part of the event’s magic comes from the annual tranche of secret sets and surprise guest performances.

This year’s Glasto will be no different with some very interesting names touted to make an impromptu stop at Worthy Farm.

We take a look at all the rumoured – and confirmed – additions to the bill:

KASABIAN

Kasabian will plays Woodsies on Saturday evening

We exclusively revealed Leicester rockers Kasabian will be playing an hour-long set on Saturday evening.

The band, who headlined the festival back in 2014, will run through their enviable catalogue of anthems on the Woodies Stage at 6pm.

A source said: “Glastonbury is always a big deal but this year Kasabian really can’t wait, especially as it’s a decade since they were last there.

“They loved the idea of being a secret act and jumped at the idea when it was suggested by Glasto boss Emily Eavis.”

BEANS ON TOAST

Beans on Toast played his new album yesterday afternoon

Singer-songwriter Jay McAllister got the party started yesterday afternoon on the Greenpeace stage by running through his upcoming album Wild Goose Chasers in full.

He has released a new studio album ever year since his debut album, Standing on a Chair, dropped in December 2009.

Jay always releases his albums on December 1, in time for Christmas.

During his career, he has supported huge names on tour, including Kate Nash, Frank Turner and US punk band Flogging Molly.

NEWTON FAULKNER

Newton Faulkner is set to play Avalon

Guitar whizz Newton has been a Glastonbury staple on recent years, but it looked like he was set to sit this one out.

That is until he got the call to appear just days before the festival’s start date.

Emily Eavis opens Glastonbury Festival 2024 as temperatures rocket

The 39-year-old announced on X: “I am playing Glastonbury Festival 2024.”

” If you asked me last week if I was playing @glastonbury, I would have said sadly not.

“But if you asked me now I’d say HELL YEA, SATURDAY 21:40-22:40 ON THE AVALON STAGE!!!!!!”

DUA LIPA’S FAMOUS FRIENDS

Pyramid headliner Dua Lipa might have some well-known guests

Disco queen Dua is flying the flag for pure unadulterated pop this weekend on the Pyramid Stage.

And she might have some iconic female friends joining her to add to the magic.

Her headline slot is scheduled to be 15 minutes longer than her own tour, leading to speculation she’ll surprise the Glasto crowd.

Girls Aloud‘s name has been thrown into the mix. With the popular group currently on their own reunion tour and gig ready, it could be a weekend-stealing moment.

A more likely collab would be 80s icon Cyndi Lauper, after we revealed both camps had been in talks.

A source said: “She knows the record [Radical Optimism] will strike a chord with her fans but for the old school muso’s at the Farm, she wants a touch of nostalgia.”

Tame Impala brainchild Kevin Parker worked with Dua on her psychedelic new album and fans wouldn’t be surprised if he helped bring a bit of indie edge to the set.

Could Green Day pop up on the farm?

There’s a lot of chart-topping bands touring the UK this summer and fans have been scouring tour dates for Glasto-shaped gaps.

The Killers, and Green Day have all been tipped to pop up in some capacity.

Punk-pop pioneers Green Day have form for surprise sets, having played a tiny pub gig in Covent Garden earlier this year and in disguise on a New York subway platform.

They’ve also played intimate gigs packed with cover songs as the aptly named The Coverups – so watch this space.
