Former Hollyoaks star Abi Phillips aiming to prove she made the right decision quitting acting – by singing on The Voice

FORMER Hollyoaks star Abi Phillips is hoping to prove that she made the right decision in quitting acting – by starring on The Voice tonight.

And the hopeful is now aiming to launch her music career by singing for the coaches on the ITV talent show tonight.

Speaking ahead of her performance, Abi said: “I really enjoyed Hollyoaks and really did appreciate it but I didn’t love it as much as my music.

“And I kind of felt like it was time to try and do the thing I really love doing.

“I’ve been working so hard to do my music for such a long time.

“I’d really love to prove to myself that I was right to follow my heart and do something I love and leave acting behind.

“I just really hope that that was the right choice.”

Abi originally won her Hollyoaks role by writing a song called Missing You – which was played when Carley Stenson’s character Steph Cunningham died in a house fire.

Speaking about the soap, she added: “One day I was doing my GCSEs and the next I’m on Hollyoaks – I just wasn’t expecting it at all.”
