Britney Spears' conservatorship timeline
In September 2021, case returned to a courtroom where Judge Brenda Penny made a number of bombshell rulings, following her father's decision to end the conservatorship the month prior.
She ruled to rid Jamie of his daughter's conservatorship, however, it did not mean the end of the conservatorship altogether.
Speaking in court, Judge Brenda Penny said: "Based on what I read in the filings, and I read everything. I do believe the suspension of Jamie Spears is in the best interest of Britney Spears.
"The current situation is unattainable. The court finds the toxic environment Jamie Spears has created needs to be removed today."
Following the judge's decision, a temporary conservator was put in Jamie's place for about a month.
In early November 2021, Jamie was back in court filing new legal documents that show he's done fighting.
Jamie had previously demanded $2 million in exchange for stepping down but documents at the time showed that he was not seeking any further compensation.
On November 12, Judge Penny ruled in favor of the pop star, removing Jamie from the position of conservator without requiring any further mental examination from Britney.
BRIT'S DIVORCE
Britney's split from Paul comes after the singer has had an array of unsuccessful relationships, with her longest being with Sam.
In 2016, Britney began dating Sam after the two met on the set of her Slumber Party music video.
The couple got engaged in 2021 in the midst of Britney ending her conservatorship.
Sam and Britney tied the knot in June 2022 and married for 14 months before the pair called it quits.
Following the split, Britney took to Instagram to address the breakup.
"As everyone knows, (Sam) and I are no longer together … 6 years is a long time to be with someone so, I’m a little shocked," the post read.
She went on to say that their split is "nobody's business," but she "couldn't take the pain anymore."
By May 2024, the former couple were officially divorced.
This marks Britney's third divorce, as she was married to Kevin Federline from 2004 until 2007.
They welcomed two children together, sons Sean Preston and Jayden James.
Before Kevin, Britney was married to her childhood friend, Jason Alexander, during a Las Vegas wedding in 2004.
